Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are needed to take items around on our
hospitality cart to patients and the OMCA gift shop is in
need of cashiers. We are also looking for volunteers to
help with our special events and fundraisers. If you
have experience in fundraising, trunk shows or would
like to learn, please contact Kathy Coombes at 565-
9110.
Auxiliary News:
New Secretary Julie Sell
The Auxiliary welcomes
Julie as the new board
secretary. Julie is the
Disaster Preparedness
Coordinator for OMC and
manages to fit
volunteering in her busy
schedule. Julie believes in supporting the hospital in
many ways. She serves on the United Way committee
and is one of those wonderful human beings who puts
service high on her priority list. Julie is a valuable asset
to the Auxiliary Board and we thank her for going the
extra mile.
Auxiliary Book Cart
The Auxiliary book cart, both in Sequim and at the
hospital, continues to offer wonderful books to
patients, family members and staff for a nominal
donation. Books are always accepted as donations.
To date, the book cart has generated more than
$800. Funds are used to purchase items for the
hospitality cart and also donated to the Auxiliary
general fund. Proceeds go to purchase equipment
for the hospital, Lifeline scholarships and an
educational scholarship for students in the health
care field. A special thank you to Twice Loved
Books in Sequim for their generous donations.

Why I Love Volunteering – By Preety Kaur
Hi, my name is Preety Kaur and my home country is
India. I am studying to be a nurse, so I decided to start
working as a volunteer in June. At that time, I was so
nervous and shy about working in a hospital. After
working for four months, I began to feel very confident
and was not afraid to speak up anymore. I learned a lot
from my co-workers, Tish and Monte. Not only did they
teach me hospital skills, but they also helped to improve
my English. I love working at Olympic Medical Center
and I love helping people. It made me realize I could
work here forever and I am thankful I had this
opportunity. I love being a volunteer and I now know I
will love being a nurse. Thank you friends at Olympic
Medical Center.
Legislative Advocacy
Olympic Medical Center is working to ensure adequate
funding for local health care. OMC ‘s active Legislative
Advocacy Committee meets monthly and engages with
legislators on important state and federal issues
affecting health care in our community. The committee
includes OMC Board Commissioners Jim Cammack, Jim
Leskinovitch and John Beitzel, CEO Eric Lewis and
Assistant Administrator Rhonda Curry.
What you can do: Take an active role in helping to
solve the health care crisis! Write to your legislators as
your letters count. Let your legislators know how you
feel about health care decisions. For more information

and click on LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY or ask a
volunteer at the information desk in the main lobby of
OMC for a packet. We also have letters ready to go. All
you have to do is sign and mail them.
