A spectacular stamp used on First Day of Issue and one of just two examples known of the 90 reis (the other example was in the Dr. Hugo Goeggel collection, Corinphila sale 178, lot 4148 in February 2013). Tiny nick in the lower left corner of the stamp in no way affecting the appearance of this rarity. Cert. Moorhouse (2013). Rare. Cert. Moorhouse (2013). 2 400 333 well struck in red. Minute thin of no importance, a rare and appealing stamp. Cert. Sismondo (2001). 3b 500 417 Start price approx. € 27 25 26 27 with large part framed MACEIO handstamp (Ayres1344) struck in black. Ironed bend and small thin but scarce. 2a 150 125 (Ayres 1344) struck in black. A wonderful multiple with a very scarce cancellation. Illustrated in Brookman on page 10. Provenance: Saul Newbury, Norman S. Hubbard (May 1986) lot 2057. 2a 750 625 90 reis grey, Worn Impression, used example with good margins and showing the vertical (Ayres 1393) in brown.
