IIPortrait of Luis Alemany IndarteLuis Alemany Indarte was born in Madrid in 1940. Heand his family are all Architects, indeed his father LuisAlemany Soler planned and built the famous "Bernabeu"Stadium for Real Madrid Football Club. In 1972 RealMadrid commissioned Luis Alemany Indarte to designtheir training complex, since that time the AlemanyArchitecture office has been considered the officialarchitect to the club. The office is family run with Luis'sbrother, two sons, a nephew and a daughter-in-law allemployed there. The Luis Alemany Indarte office was also responsible for the technicalmodernisation of the Bernabeu for theFIFA World Cup held in Spain in 1982. Otheroutstanding projects include the palace atDoha in Qatar and further football stadiums,Olympic swimming pools and the 'Las Rosas'housing area in Madrid where 10'500 apartmentswere built on an area of 3.2. millionView of the football stadium ‚Santiago Bernabeu‘square metres.Luis Alemany IndarteLuis Alemany Indarte and part ofhis team of architects, includingtwo sons, in front of the ‚SantiagoBernabeu‘ stadiumLuis has been collecting stamps since childhood.He exhibited his collections for the firsttime in 1975 at the International stamp exhibition“Espana 75” in Madrid. Initially Luiswas mostly interested in Spanish and SpanishColonial Philately and Postal History, formingseven different award winning exhibits andwinning a Grand Prix for his “Classic Spain”in 1991. From then on he branched out further


IIIinto more international collecting areas, with many fine collectionssuch as ‘Classic Finland’, ‘Classic Argentina’, ‘Italy1855-1867’, ‘Incoming mail to Spain’, ‘Netherlands 1852and 1864 issues’, ‘Spanish Caribbean’ and ‘Brazil - DomPedro’ issues. He also built up the fascinating collection of“Brazil – Bull’s Eyes 1843-1854” that we were honoured toauction here in Zurich in May this year. Luis was awardednumerous Large Gold medals and Grand Prix for the “BrazilBull’s Eyes” Exhibit at variousGrand-Prix Lisbon 2010international exhibitions, the culmination of which waswinning the World Stamp Championship in Israel 2008.Overall, Luis Alemany Indarte has received for hisvarious stamp collections nearly 90 national and internationalLarge Gold medals and 23 International GrandPrix, of which 7 were awarded at FIP Exhibitions.Luis Alemany Indarte and his wife inGranada having won the Grand PrixInternational at the InternationalStamp Show 1992.Today, Luis Alemany Indarte is one of the most importantstamp collectors in Spain and across the globe, apassionate ambassador of the finest hobby in the world: Philately! All lots mentioned in the catalogue may be inspected by Biddersbefore or during the auction. The Bidder will be held responsiblefor any damage caused during the viewing. The Auctioneer hasabsolute discretion to deviate from the lotting order, to combinetwo or more lots or to withdraw any lot from the auction. Theestimated prices in the catalogue are not binding.
