Portrait of Luis Alemany Indarte 

Luis Alemany Indarte was born in Madrid in 1940. He 

and his family are all Architects, indeed his father Luis 

Alemany Soler planned and built the famous "Bernabeu" 

Stadium for Real Madrid Football Club. In 1972 Real 

Madrid commissioned Luis Alemany Indarte to design 

their training complex, since that time the Alemany 

 

 

brother, two sons, a nephew and a daughter-in-law all

Other outstanding projects include the palace

Colonial Philately and Postal History, forming 

seven different award winning exhibits and 

winning a Grand Prix for his Classic Spain in 

1991. From then on he branched out into more

collections such as ‚Classic Finland‘, ‚Classic Argentina‘, 

 

 

 

 

present today in this special catalogue. Luis was awarded 

 

 

the culmination of which was 

Grand-Prix Lisbon 2010 

winning the World Stamp Championship in Israel 2008. 

Overall, Luis Alemany Indarte has received for his 

various stamp collections nearly 90 national and international 

Large Gold medals and 23 International Grand 

Prix, of which 7 were awarded at FIP Exhibitions. 

Today, Luis Alemany Indarte is one of the most important 

stamp collectors in Spain and across the globe, a

Granada having won the Grand Prix 

International at the International 

Stamp Show 1992.

THE HISTORY 

 

to go to Cachoeira do Sul, where he had mentioned there was a lady 

from a traditional gaucho family, Silva Goulart, who was believed to 

own an old archive of family correspondence. The lady showed them 

 

almost all of them had their stamps destroyed, removed without any 

 

just a boy, had started collecting stamps, and had removed the stamps 

he needed from the letters in the precious box. 

 

salvaged from the hands of the future Ambassador. Clovis Leite agreed 

to give all that was salvaged to Frederico Barata, to be part of his 

collection. The pieces from Cachoeira do Sul were then exhibited at the 

great Exposition Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Farroupilha. 

View of the town of Cachoeira, the destination of the letter 

 

Paulo, acquired the letter directly from Frederico Barata and kept it for 

 

Workers in the rural area of Brazil. The letter was kept by a traditional 

gaucho family as part of their family archive for almost 100 

years until its discovery in 1935. 

 

 

 

 

and the winner of three FIP Large Gold Medals. He intended to put 

 

 

 

 

$ 100,000. The buyer of the collection was a collector from Rio de 

Janeiro, Roberto Seabra Benevides. 

 

Alemany Indarte acquired the rarities from the Benevides collection.
