Srs. Peggy Sause (pictured top left, middle) and Rene Weeks
(pictured bottom left, right) are the new directors of Centro
Santa Catalina in Ciudad Juarez just south of the United
States in Chihuahua, Mexico. Every day, the Sisters drive
across the US border from El Paso, Texas, to their ministry
in a city with the highest murder rate in North America.
The Sisters help women to grow both personally
and spiritually through a four-year
leadership development program. All the
teachers and tutors are women of the colonia
who have successfully completed the
program. They also empower women to
be able to take better care of their families
financially through operating a
sewing cooperative and a gardening cooperative.
In addition to the programs for women, the
organization also provides a kindergarten for 105
children, a homework help program for 270 children,
and a Saturday youth group for 80 teens.
