<strong>VACANCY</strong> <strong>FOR</strong> A <strong>PART</strong>-<strong>TIME</strong> <strong>STOREKEEPER</strong> <strong>CLERK</strong> <strong>GRADE</strong> 1<br />

AT KILKENNY NATIONAL HISTORIC PROPERTIES<br />

Applications are invited for the position of part-time Storekeeper Clerk, Grade 1, at<br />

the Kilkenny National Historic Properties Section, based at the Office of Public<br />

Works, Kilkenny.<br />

This is a permanent part-time position in the Office of Public Works. The successful<br />

candidate will be required to work 24 hours per week from 8.30am to 5.00pm,<br />

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. The starting salary for this position<br />

will be €10.70 per hour.<br />

A brief job description is set out below:<br />

• Preparation of weekly payroll requirements, including calculation of arrears<br />

and answering and following up on queries relating to pay;<br />

• Maintenance of personnel records including attendance, annual leave, and<br />

sick leave, etc;<br />

• Requisitioning, receiving and issuing of stores for the relevant sites and<br />

maintenance of all records (computer and manual) in respect of supplies,<br />

including the preparation of quarterly and annual capital asset returns;<br />

• Day-to-day management of payment for supplies and services;<br />

• Maintenance of equipment and furniture inventories;<br />

• Adherence to Health and Safety protocols;<br />

• Adapting to new technology/methods;<br />

• Be computer literate and have the necessary IT skills to carry out the duties of<br />

the post;<br />

• Any other duties considered appropriate to the grade.<br />

• A full drivers license is required as driving to OPW sites will be part of the<br />

duties.<br />

The duties and responsibilities listed above are not exhaustive and the successful<br />

candidate may be assigned any duties considered appropriate to the grade. Training<br />

will be provided, where required.<br />

The successful candidate will be required to satisfactorily complete a probationary<br />

period of 1 year and it is likely that he/she will be based at the Kilkenny National<br />

Historic Properties Section at the Office of Public Works, Government Offices,<br />

Hebron Road, Kilkenny.


The appointment will be made following a competitive interview and computer<br />

aptitude test. It is likely that applications will be short-listed prior to interview. A<br />

panel of suitable candidates may also be formed, which would remain in place for<br />

approximately one year, should any similar vacancies arise in the area.<br />

It is expected that the interviews will take place at the end of July or at the beginning<br />

of August, 2012.<br />

The Office of Public Works will not be liable for any costs incurred in attending the<br />

interview.<br />
