It appears I found my two banner holders for the Library Float in the
Child Abuse Parade, State Fair Parade, & even the Navajo Nation Parade.

a perfect activity for individuals that
want to make that special someone a gift
from the heart. Many times, the Holiday
activities also serve as a good bonding time
between parents/guardians and children
or grandparents and grandchildren.
Activities normally start at 4:30pm
and end around 6pm, depending on the
amount of participants. We hope to see
you soon.
The 2nd Homework/Reading Incentive
Program has already been planned but
will not start until, Monday, February
28. This Incentive Field Trip will be to
the movies with dinner at Furr’s Fresh
Buffet. Participants will have the options
of choosing one of two movies which are 1)
Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules or
2) Rango. Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 is
based on a very popular book series for
Elementary and Middle School aged
students, and Rango is animated movie
about an Iguana who set out on an
adventure to find his true self. Again,
this Incentive program is open to students
of all ages. Look for a flyer within the
community as time gets closer to start
promoting the program.
RECAP
Elders from the Elders’ Center stopped by
for another visit at the library on Monday,
January 24. They have requested to visit
each month which is fine by us and we
love serving them as well. This visit was
by the biggest group to visit the library
from the Elders Center.
On Thursday, January 27 the library staff
traveled north to Santa Fe for Library
Legislation Day at the Round House.
Staff members met with librarians
from around the state, and visited our
Representatives (both House & Senate) to
remind them of how important libraries
are to our communities. We reminded
them of how libraries help community
members (registered voters) set up email
accounts so they may apply for jobs
online, apply for assisted living online,
provide Wi-Fi, tutoring for youth, while
providing a variety of FREE resources to
everyone. We also handed out brochures
of our library which also explained some
of the programs we conduct at the Pueblo
of Isleta. All of this was done with the
community in mind, which gave us added
determination to lobby and persuade
them NOT to cut any of the State Grants
which provide much needed funding for
our library such as the State Grant-In-
Aid, Tribal Libraries Program, GO Bond,
and the Capital Outlay money which is
being spent on the upcoming Library/
Educational Complex. That was a busy
day for all us, lucky there were enough
of us to split up and visit with not only
our Representatives but those also who
support American Indian Issues.
On that note, Keep fighting the “Good
Fight” people.
