COUNCIL COMPOSITION The Council of the City of Oshawa is made up of eleven members - one Mayor, seven Regional Councillors and three Local Councillors. MEMBERS OF COUNCIL Below are the members of the Council of the City of Oshawa and the Ward they represent: Mayor John Gray Regional Councillor Cathy Clarke (Ward Five) Regional Councillor April Cullen (Ward Six) Regional Councillor Joseph Kolodzie (Ward Four) Regional Councillor Robert Lutczyk (Ward Two) Regional Councillor John Neal (Ward Seven) Regional Councillor Brian Nicholson (Ward One) Regional Councillor Nester Pidwerbecki (Ward Three) Local Councillor Tito-Dante Marimpietri (Wards Two and Four) Local Councillor Mike Nicholson (Wards One and Three) Local Councillor Louise Parkes (Wards Five and Six) CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS City Council meetings are held on the following Mondays commencing at 6:30 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend: January 17, February 7 and 28, March 21, April 11, May 2 and 24, June 13, July 4 and 18, September 12, October 3 and 24, November 14, and December 5 and 19, 2005. City Council will take a 15 minute break at 8:30 p.m. during every regular City Council meeting, or at the next opportunity after 8:30 p.m. upon the completion of the item being discussed at 8:30 p.m. All correspondence shall be referred to the Standing Committee responsible for providing advice to Council concerning the correspondence subject matter, unless otherwise directed by Council. There are five Standing Committees of Council: Corporate Services Committee, Development Services Committee, Operational Services Committee, Strategic Initiatives Committee and the Harbour Negotiating Team. A calendar of all Standing Committee meeting dates is available on the City of Oshawa website at www.oshawa.ca. Town of Whitby, Paul Jones, Town Clerk, forwarding Whitby Council’s by-law concerning implementation of a Heritage Property Tax Rebate Program for Eligible Heritage Properties to the Ontario Minister of Finance and the Regional Municipality of Durham, and requesting the Region pass a by-law to match this tax reduction program. Refer to the Development Services Committee (All Wards) 2. Robert Tooke forwarding a petition signed by 16 residents of Phase 2 Conlin Ridge Development (Halloway Homes) opposing the construction of a sidewalk on the east side of Ormond Drive between Woodmount Street and Clearwater Court, and requesting the sidewalk instead be constructed on the west side of Ormond Drive, consistent with the Phase 1 Conlin Ridge Development (Halloway Homes).
