3 Roles and Responsibilities
3.1 Federal Government
The CFIA is the federal agency responsible for regulating introduced Forestry or
Agriculture pests. Federal regulatory measures prohibit the movement of any ash tree
materials and firewood of all species to areas not yet impacted.
The CFIA has established a multi-agency approach involving the Ontario Ministry of
Natural Resources, Canadian Forest Service and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and
Food. Conservation authorities and many other groups, agencies and associations are
also being consulted to ensure an effective, comprehensive approach.
