May is in full bloom as we celebrate spring and
of course, mothers. This month we had the
privilege to chat with Wanda Jackson and see her
perform as she toured across our state. Her signature
song, “Let’s Have A Party,” was a 1960 hit, and she shares
stories of being on the road with Elvis as well as her
latest album aptly titled, “The Party Ain’t Over.”
The music plays on as the North Carolina Symphony
brings Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto to wrap up the
Southern Pines concert series May 19. And Malcolm
Blue Farm aims to take visitors back in time at their

program in recognition of Get Caught
Reading Month. Also, a new feature this

The next stop on our winery tour takes us to Chatham
County and SilkHope Winery, where Wally Butler has
been perfecting his grape-growing since 1985.
In honor of Mother’s Day, readers from across the
region share some personal memories of their moms.
The hard work of caregivers, whether it is paid or
volunteer, all too often goes unrecognized. In an
effort to shine the light on this deserving group of
people, OutreachNC is proud to sponsor the 2nd annual
Moore County Caregiver Awards. I encourage all if
the opportunity arises to thank a caregiver for their
kindness and selflessness, if only with a smile.
