Stems <strong>and</strong> Affixes<br />
Morphemes like –s, un-, dis-, etc are called affixes<br />
(e.g., books, undesirable, dishonour)<br />
The form to which an affix is attached is called a<br />
stem. In the word “unhappy”, the affix is “un-” <strong>and</strong><br />
the stem is “happy”.<br />
Stems may also consist of a number of morphemes.<br />
