15 May 2013 No 17 - Zimbabwe Parliament

THAT WHEREAS, subsection (1) of section 111B of the Constitution of
Zimbabwe provides that any Convention, Treaty or Agreement acceded to,
concluded or executed by or under the authority of the President with one or more
foreign states or governments or international organisations shall be subject to
approval by Parliament;
AND WHEREAS the statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency
(Statute of IRENA) was signed in Bonn, World Conference Centre on 26
January, 2009;
AND WHEREAS the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe is a signatory to
the aforesaid Statute and desirous of becoming a party to the statute;
AND WHEREAS Article XIX (C) of the statute of IRENA provides for the
deposition of instruments of ratification or accession with the depository;
NOW THEREFORE in terms of section 111B (1) of the Constitution of
Zimbabwe, this House resolves that the aforesaid Statute be and is hereby
approved for ratification.
