THAT WHEREAS, subsection (1) of section 111B of the Constitution of<br />

<strong>Zimbabwe</strong> provides that any Convention, Treaty or Agreement acceded to,<br />

concluded or executed by or under the authority of the President with one or more<br />

foreign states or governments or international organisations shall be subject to<br />

approval by <strong>Parliament</strong>;<br />

AND WHEREAS the statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency<br />

(Statute of IRENA) was signed in Bonn, World Conference Centre on 26<br />

January, 2009;<br />

AND WHEREAS the Government of the Republic of <strong>Zimbabwe</strong> is a signatory to<br />

the aforesaid Statute and desirous of becoming a party to the statute;<br />

AND WHEREAS Article XIX (C) of the statute of IRENA provides for the<br />

deposition of instruments of ratification or accession with the depository;<br />

NOW THEREFORE in terms of section 111B (1) of the Constitution of<br />

<strong>Zimbabwe</strong>, this House resolves that the aforesaid Statute be and is hereby<br />

approved for ratification.<br />

<strong>Zimbabwe</strong> and beg leave to offer our respectful thanks for the speech, which you<br />

have been pleased to address to <strong>Parliament</strong> – Hon. J.M. Gumbo<br />
