2011
CINEMAS
Programming
Variety is the key feature of programming
at the Gaumont and Pathé theaters.
As entertainment and cultural venues,
they also create film events with celebrity guests
and special film category selections.
Showcase Categories
The Gaumont and Pathé theaters have created three showcase categories
to help filmgoers select films: “Coup de Cœur”,
“L’Autre Regard” and “Ciné Tribu”.
In 2011, 22 category labels were awarded both to art house films
and films for a general audience (compared to 18 in 2010).
Thus The Artist by Michel Hazanavicius, and Untouchable by Eric Toledano
and Olivier Nakache were “Coup de Cœur” films of the Gaumont
and Pathé theaters; Declaration of War by Valérie Donzelli
and Where Do We Go Now? by Nadine Labaki were given the label
“L’Autre Regard”.
Film Mania Program
Launched in 2010, the Film Mania Program at the Gaumont Parnasse have been
a regular fixture for audiences eager for events and opportunities to meet film
professionals. Since 2011, these events have also been taking place in Lyon
at the Pathé Bellecour.
Every month, the Film Mania Program offers an exceptional event for film buffs,
such as the “Leçon de cinéma” film masterclass, hosted by François Bégaudeau, who
invites film celebrities to share their vision of the business and to reflect on their career.
In 2011, Vincent Lindon, Nathalie Baye, François Cluzet, Karin Viard, Yvan Attal and
many more took part.
The Previews
Festival
The Gaumont and Pathé theaters
launched in 2011 a Previews
Festival in over 40 film theaters
in the Ile-de-France region
and the provinces to allow filmgoers
to discover new releases up to two
months before they are screened
in film theaters.
Among the films offered
to audiences at this first event
were Toi, moi, les autres
by Audrey Estrougo, Last Night
by Massy Tadjedin and
The King’s Speech by Tom Hooper.
