PATHE 2011 FILMS Pathé is one of Europe’s leading film production companies as well as being a major film distributor. Leveraging its rich heritage, it owns the rights to an extensive film library, which is constantly expanding thanks to the new films produced or acquired by the company. 14 15
PATHE 2011 FILMS FILM Production and Distribution FRANCE Pathé released 15 films in theaters in 2011. Above and beyond the excellent ticket sales on Nothing to Declare (over 8 million), four other films were also well-received by audiences with ticket sales exceeding 1 million for each film: The Tuche Family, Welcome Aboard, The Well-Digger’s Daughter, and Titeuf, The film. 12 films with which Pathé is associated went into production in 2011, notably What’s in a Name? Somewhere by Sofia Coppola Africa United by Debs Gardner-Paterson Nothing to Declare by Dany Boon 127 Hours by Danny Boyle by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte, Uncle Charles by Etienne Chatiliez, Happiness Never Comes Alone by James Huth, Jappeloup by Christian Duguay, Nous York by Géraldine Nakache and Hervé Mimran, Bowling by Marie-Castille Mention Schaar, and Turf by Fabien Onteniente. UK Pathé released 4 films in theaters: 127 Hours by Danny Boyle, Nothing to Declare by Dany Boon, The Skin I Live In by Pedro Almodóvar, and The Well-Digger’s Daughter by Daniel Auteuil. The Marquis by Dominique Farrugia Titeuf, The Film by Zep The Well-Digger’s Daughter by Daniel Auteuil Monsieur Papa by Kad Merad 127 Hours did well at the English box office, and The Skin I Live In achieved the highest ticket sales for a foreign language film in 2011. Four Pathé films went into production in the United Kingdom in 2011: The Iron Lady by Phyllida Lloyd, No One Lives by Ryûhei Kitamura, Trance by Danny Boyle, and Last Passenger by Omid Nooshin. SWITZERLAND Pathé Films AG distributed 40 films in theaters over the course of 2011. With ticket sales of 353,000, Nothing to Declare achieved a highly commendable result.
