Nationally, net expenditure per civil finalisation for the magistrates courts only<br />

(excluding electronic and children’s courts) was $136. Across jurisdictions, it was<br />

highest in the NT ($667) and lowest in Tasmania ($27) (figure 6.5).<br />

The Victorian data include 70 660 finalisations of residential tenancy matters and<br />

civil claims applications (and the associated expenditure) that were finalised in the<br />

Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal. The Australian courts do not operate in<br />

this court jurisdiction.<br />

Net expenditure per finalisation for children’s courts<br />

In 2003-04, net expenditure per criminal finalisation for children’s courts was $539<br />

nationally. Across jurisdictions, it was highest in WA ($1022) and lowest in<br />

Victoria ($107) (figure 6.6).<br />

Nationally, net expenditure per civil finalisation for the children’s courts was $660.<br />

Across jurisdictions, it was highest in the ACT ($2201) and lowest in WA ($394)<br />

(figure 6.6). The Australian courts do not operate in this court jurisdiction.<br />
