FROM PASTOR JEFF 

A big “thank you” 

goes out to our staff, a host of leaders, 

and to our entire church family as 

we had a successful Launch of our 

new Sunday morning format this fall. 

Because of the hard work and willing 

hearts of our people, we have been 

able to restructure our services, Bible 

studies, and times in order to reach 

more people for Christ. Worshippers 

are now spread throughout our 

campus, bringing a greater sense 

of community and vibrancy into the 

services. We’re better utilizing our 

God-given space in greater ways 

and providing more opportunities for people to connect with God in 

worship. We are still on a journey as we continue to follow the Spirit as 

He leads us into the future. Services will continue to be adjusted under 

the new plan as the Lord guides to discover new ways to help more 

and more people worship Him. Continue to pray for several key search 

committees who are seeking the Lord regarding future servant leaders 

who will be joining our staff team and guiding us into the future. 

For a couple of months now we’ve been praying for God’s Kingdom 

to come “on earth as it is in heaven”. His Kingdom comes when grace 

abounds, when compassion rules, when justice rolls, and when mercy 

reigns. We want to be the answer to the prayer of Jesus. His Kingdom 

comes whenever and wherever we allow Him to take His rightful place 

as King — Lord and Master of our lives. 

Let’s continue to seek Him above all else and center our hearts on the 

Gospel. Recently our staff has been involved in vision clarification and 

planning. As we have prayed, prepared, and planned together, I am 

excited about the bright future that God has in store for us! Let’s all 

determine to recalibrate everything that we do as a church back to the 

heart of our Lord Jesus. Let His passions, His desires, and His plans 

guide us as we follow Him into the upcoming holiday season.

The Prayer Ministry exists to encourage 

and guide each PCBC church member in 

living a life of prayer, both individually

A Study of John’s Gospel 

We will be covering a chapter a week, 

following a handout on the Gospel 

of John. As we study the book, we 

will pause to understand and apply 

the crucial concepts in the book (e.g., 

faith, eternal life, being lost, following 

Jesus vs. believing in Jesus, the use of 

miracles, eternal security). Our goal is 

to clarify the astounding nature of the 

Christian Life that can be lived and 

how one actually lives it in the face of 

trials and adversity. The class will be a 

Bible Study, going verse by verse, and 

involving discussions on the important 

topics that are found in the text. Bring 

your Bible, a notebook, a pen, and an 

open heart.

Small Group Experience 

Small groups are people who come 

together to pray, encourage and

Biblical Financial Study 

Simply put, God will use this 10-week 

Bible Study to change your heart and 

your life. You will never look at money 

the same again. The Crown Biblical 

Financial Study is changing the way 

people are handling their money.

aspect of money and most importantly, 

what the Bible teaches about money.

Turning Points in the 

Acts of the Apostles 

Beginning on October 12, Andy 

Arterbury will guide a four-week,

readers likely applied the text to their 

lives as well as how we might do the 

same today.

as we enjoy an evening of fellowship

Couple Check-Up 

The Couple Checkup is an online 

assessment tool designed to identify 

the unique relationship strengths 

and growth areas of married couples. 

Based on the results of a tailored 

marital inventory, couples will receive 

a 20-page Couple Checkup Report 

on their relationship. Couples also 

receive an extensive Discussion Guide 

designed to help them learn proven 

relationship skills. Research has shown 

this process improves relationships 

by stimulating honest dialogue, 

increasing understanding, and 

empowering couples. The first session 

will introduce the Couple Checkup 

Inventory and give instructions about 

how to take the on-line inventory. 

Week two and three will cover 

information about understanding the 

results and how to use your personal 

results to strengthen your marriage.

go deep into the biblical meaning of 

work. As Christ followers we do all 

things to bring glory to God. There 

is no separation between our work 

life and our spiritual life. All of life is 

spiritual. As we approach our work as 

mission, it will transform our approach, 

our motivation, and the outcome of

Children in Kindergarten – 6th Grade are 

invited to create a picture illustrating the 

Christmas story. Each grade level is assigned 

a particular scripture passage and subject to 

illustrate. Pictures should be in color and 

submitted on the official entry form. Four 

pictures will be chosen to appear on the 

screens during Advent. Entry forms are located 

in the Children’s Ministry Office and at each 

check-in station. Deadline to submit artwork

THANKSGIVING 

Feeding the South Dallas 

Community 

Be the hands and feet of Jesus to the least 

of these on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers 

are needed to help prepare, pack and deliver 

meals for the homeless at Cornerstone 

Baptist Church and under the I-45 bridge, 

the residents at Park Manor Nursing Home, 

the in-home members of Cornerstone 

Baptist Church, and other families in 

South Dallas. Look for sign up information

OUR JERUSALEM 

Manuel’s Jacket 

Children’s Coat Ministry: Manuel, a 

6th grade boy who lives in Vickery and 

is part of our Amigos de Dios bilingual 

service, was never seen without his favorite 

jacket — a worn little jacket featuring 

“Dash Parr,” a fourth grade super hero in 

the Disney movie, “The Incredibles.” It was 

his most prized possession and he wore it 

all the time, summer or winter. 

Two years ago, Manuel was part of a 

children’s group hearing Meg York talk 

about her upcoming Russia trip to work with 

orphans. As he heard her talk about children 

there who did not have coats to keep them 

warm during the freezing Russian winters, 

he was deeply moved and took off his prized 

jacket and handed it to Meg. He asked her 

to give it to a child so he could keep warm 

through the winter. 

Manuel’s compassion caused him to give 

all that he had, just as the widow in Jesus’ 

parable gave all that she had to God. 

Manuel’s sacrificial gift encourages us to 

show compassion to the children around 

us who do not have coats. We have been 

challenged to follow the example of this 

truly incredible child and open our hearts to 

the needs of the children in our Jerusalem. 

By giving coats to children who need them 

in the communities we serve, we build 

relationships and opportunities to share 

Jesus’ love. Because Manuel gave, Dmitri 

now as a coat. The children in need around 

us deserve to have warm coats as well. 

PCBC will be colleting NEW warm coats for 

the Vickery area schools during the month 

of November. Look for drop off locations in 

the Gym & Commons area. Call the Missions

Manpower 

Serving Widows and Single Mothers. The 

men of PCBC are seeking to help widows 

and single mothers of the church who need 

basic home repairs, odd jobs, yard work, 

computer help, etc. In addition, we are 

always looking for men to join our teams 

on the first Saturday of every month. If you 

would like to volunteer or have a need for 

such help, please contact Steve Corder at

North Dallas 

Shared Ministries 

Clothes Closet: Volunteers will assist 

with sales; straighten inventory; assist 

with selections for the working poor in the 

neighborhood. Groups of 10 maximum. 

Dates: Saturdays throughout the year. 

Time: 9:00 a.m.–Noon. Location: 2875 

Merrell Rd. Ministry Champion: Barbara

be scheduled prior to volunteering. 

Food Pantry Worker: Volunteers are 

needed to help sort and stock food on the 

pantry shelves. Groups of 10 maximum.
