Helping People Follow Jesus • pcbc.org

GROWING IN CHRIST
Fall is a time to welcome cooler temperatures,
the first day of school, and a renewed sense
of growth.
Park Cities Baptist strives to provide opportunities for growth in Christ
through various ministries. From the preschooler learning about how to
share God’s love to a senior adult serving Christ, you will grown when
you are rooted in the study of God’s word.
This issue of The Journal highlights many opportunities to grow. Take a
moment to peruse the articles and then pray about areas in your own life
in which you might grow.
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18
The Big Questions
October 8th - Week One: Is God Green?
Global warming, the environment and conservation are on
everyone’s mind. Is the Church relevant to this issue today? What
does the Bible say about our responsibility for God’s creation?
October 15th - Week Two: Is Calvinism Biblical?
Does God determine who goes to heaven and who goes to hell? If
he is sovereign, are you free? Issues related to Calvinism are more
debated today than they have been in generations. What does the
Bible say on this controversial subject?
Unwrapping Your Spiritual Gifts
God has given each one of us spiritual gifts to use in His Kingdom work.
We are happiest when we are serving through our gifts where He wants
us to serve. Do you know your gifts? Do you know opportunities of
service? Join us to answer these questions. Text: Bible and COMPASS
Why Can’t I Understand Him/Her—Embracing
God’s Gender Design
God created gender differences as two parts of a whole. From the
beginning damaged gender differences have stirred up distance
and misunderstanding. God created gender differences to make
a better world (Genesis 2:18 “It is not good that man should be
alone.”) God’s guidance is essential in understanding our gender
differences. Learn how embracing God’s design in making male
and female can create unity in relationships with others. This
class is for all adults. Join us for a great hour of discussion and
inspiration. Teachers: Drs. Brian and Debi Newman Date: Sept.
24th Location: Ellis Parlor
October 22nd - Week Three: Is Jesus the Only Way to Heaven?
Is there only one way to God? Is Christianity the only way to
salvation? Muslims, Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Jews
all “believe” in Jesus. How can we understand and teach the
importance of faith in Christ today?
October 29th - Week Four: What Happens to Those Who
Never Hear?
More than two billion people living on our planet today have never
heard of Jesus. Do they need to hear the gospel to go to heaven?
Is so, how it this fair? In not, why sacrifice for missions? Is there a way
to resolve this centuries-old debate?
Teacher: Dr. James C. Denison Dates: Oct. 8th through Oct. 29th
Location: Great Hall
