GLOBAL PRAYER REQUEST
FOR THE HIMALAYAN NATION OF NEPAL
The Himalayan Nation of Nepal, a tiny nation situated between India and China, is in political
turmoil. It is still struggling to reform the nation and draft a new constitution, following the end of
10 years civil war, 1996 – 2006, which killed over 13,000 people. Previously known as the only
Hindu Kingdom in the world, Nepal is now transforming into a federal republic and secular nation.
The over 239 old monarchy has now become history. The Gospel came to Nepal in the 1950s, at
which time there were no churches and no Christians, and the church has seen both remarkable
and rapid growth since then. Out of 75 districts, now there is almost no district where there is no
church and no Christian.
Due to many political hidden agendas and a lack of political consensus mainly on the issue of how
to divide the country up into federal states and whether to do this along ethnic lines, Nepal’s
Constituent Assembly have failed to draft a new constitution even after repeated extended
deadlines totaling a period of four years. Now, there is a new interim and independent
government formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice. Soon Nepal is going to face
another fresh election for another Constituent Assembly.
However, the Christian Community of Nepal is looking to God in this time of need and believes
that, ‘if we His people, called by His name, humble ourselves, turn from our wicked ways and
pray in unity with one heart, that God would heal and transform the nation’. Through
concentrated prayer, we believe that Nepal can become a nation of righteousness, peace and
prosperity. Scripture tells us that the Lord Jesus and the prophets Moses and Elijah prayed for 40
days. In the same way, the Christian community of Nepal is requesting and inviting to join them in
unity to pray for a period of 40 Days. As we are obedient to the Lord to pray for our nation and
those in authority we have a firm belief that God’s sovereign power can touch and heal the nation.
Therefore, we would like to invite and request the church, denomination, organization, prayer
groups and individuals around the globe to join in the 40 Days of Global Prayer for Nepal. We also
request that you become actively involved and assist in mobilizing prayer initiatives and gatherings
as much as you are able to do so. Please all share this information with any other Christian or
Church.

10 TH APRIL – 19 TH MAY 2013
PRAYER GUIDE
WEEK 1 (10 th - 13 th APRIL)
1. PRAYING LORD’S PRAYER OVER NEPAL (MATTHEW 6:9-13)
1.1 May His name be holy, His Kingdom come and His will be done in Nepal.
1.2 May all Nepali Churches and Global Christians be able to cry out to our FATHER in
Heaven and be united in prayer.
1.3 May the Church leaders in Nepal be united and be able to continue to embrace and
forgive each other in love.
1.4 May many prayer warriors and intercessors be able to join in 40 Days of Prayer for
Nepal and the nation be lifted up in prayer in the presence of God.
2. PRAYER AGAINST THE POWER OF DARKNESS (2 CORINTHIANS 10:3-5,
JOSHUA 6, JEREMIAH 1:10)
2.1 Against the strongholds, plan, purpose of power of darkness and evil to be
destroyed.
2.2 Against the wall of any evil acts, unrighteousness, idolatry to come down.
2.3 Pray against the spirit of split, disunity, injustice, corruption, crimes, so that they will
not prevail in Nepal.
3. PRAISE GOD
WEEK 2 (14 th - 20 th APRIL)
3.1 Nepal is no longer a Hindu Kingdom, and has been declared a secular and federal
democratic republic.
3.2 Christmas has been declared as a Public Holiday.
3.3 For continuing growth in the Church throughout Nepal. Government censuses shows
about 300,000 Christians in Nepal but Nepali Christians estimate and believe that
there are now approximately 1 million Christians in Nepal.
3.4 For the fact that many people continue to turn to Christ mostly through the miracles
of healing and deliverance.

3.5 That despite 13,000 people being killed, the 10 year civil war came to an end in 2006.
3.6 Nepal has failed to make a new Constitution through the Constituent Assembly
despite an attempt for four years by the last elected Constituent Assembly.
However, after months of political stalemate the country is now going for another
fresh election for next Constituent Assembly and the peace process continues to
progress.
3.7 There are fewer deaths and crime news in the national daily news compared to in
the past.
3.8 Nepali Churches are uniting in prayer for the nation and the prayer movement in
Nepal has been increasing every year.
3.9 Although persecutions are still the reality, until now there is liberty to worship and
share the Gospel in Nepal.
WEEK 3 (21 st – 27 th APRIL)
4. PRAYER FOR THE NATION (1 TIMOTHY 2:1-4, 2 CHRONICLES 7:14)
4.1 For the political consensus on major and core issues affecting the successful
completion of the peace process, and the writing and implementation of the new
constitution.
4.2 For the establishment of sustainable peace and stability, as well as good government
and righteous rulers and bureaucracy full of integrity.
4.3 For the country’s President, Vice President, Prime Minister, cabinet ministers,
Constituent Assembly members due to be freshly elected, judiciary, defense
department, civil society - that they can work together in unity for the benefit of the
nation and the people of Nepal.
4.4 That Political instability, violence, crime, impunity and corruption come to an end.
WEEK 4 (28 th APRIL- 4 th MAY)
5. PRAYER FOR THE SOCIAL PROBLEMS (ISAIAH 58:5-9, MATH 25:31-40)
5.1 For an end to injustice, oppression and poverty.
5.2 For the proper rehabilitation of the victims of the conflict and also natural
disasters. Pray that God would intervene in such natural calamities.
5.3 For Nepali young people to avoid drug-addiction and be engaged in productive
activities, and for the Government of Nepal to create more and more employment
opportunities for them.
5.4 Against the trafficking of women and children.
5.5 Pray for God’s intervention and control against abortion and abortion law in Nepal.
5.6 For the organizations working to overcome poverty and injustice in the country.

5.7 For the ongoing movement of “Christian Commitment for Building a New
Nepal.” May the church continue to be bold enough to advocate and assign
resources to address the issues of major social problems, including corruption, lack
of education, caste discrimination, unemployment, violence against women, etc. and
fulfill their commitment towards building of a new Nepal, and bridge the gap
between the church, civil society and the Government of Nepal.
5.8 For the children at risk and holistic development of all the children in Nepal.
WEEK 5 (5 th – 11 th MAY)
6. PRAYER FOR THE NEPALI CHURCH (ACTS 2:42-47, ACTS 6:1-4)
6.1 May the Nepali Church be united in the vision and movement for nation for PRAYER,
GOSPEL, DISCIPLESHIP AND SOCIAL WORK and through these four windows of
movements they would be able to make impact in the nation.
6.2 For continuous unity in the church in prayer and action.
6.3 May the church continue to be faithful in living out both the Great Commandment
and the Great Commission of Lord Jesus Christ.
6.4 May the Church be involved in and show interest in social work so that it can
continue to be salt and light in the society.
6.5 For continued liberty to profess and practice individual faith.
6.6 Against the negative influence of false teachings.
6.7 For organizations working in partnership with the church in Nepal.
WEEK 6 (12 th - 19 th MAY)
7. FOR GOD’S KINGDOM AND REVIVAL IN NEPAL (ACTS 1:8, JOEL 2:28)
7.1 For a renewed zeal and passion for prayer, and that the Kingdom of God will be
established across Nepal.
7.2 To see at least one church and one trained leader in each village throughout Nepal.
7.3 For church growth among the Nepali diaspora around the world.
7.4 For God to be lifted high and blessing to flow from the highest place in the world to
the rest of the world.
7.5 For the success of GLOBAL OUTREACH DAY MOVEMENT in Nepal on 25 and 26 May
2013 and Nepali churches to be fully mobilized to share the Gospel to everyone in
Nepal.
