28 TH SCENIC SINKHOLE SCRAMBLE RESULTS
On Saturday, August 14th, the 28 th Scenic Sinkhole Scramble was held in
conjunction with the Koochiching County Fair/Bearfest, at the Koochiching
County Fairgrounds, just north of Northome, Minnesota. Before getting into the
results, there are people and organizations that need to be recognized, as
without their help and efforts, the event would not be able to be held. Those
people who are very important to the event are: Karen Lorenzen, Sarah Waldo,
Juleen Trisko-Schneider, Marion Swang, John, Cindy, Arilea, and Aaron
Lorenzen, and Deputy Sheriff John Demuth. Organizations and businesses
involved are: the Northome VFW and American Legion, First National Bank of
Deerwood, Nei Bottling of Bemidji, Minnesota Department of Transportation,
Koochiching County Fair Board, and Thunderbird Graphics and Trophies.
Without the volunteer work and donations by the above people, this event could
not be held and run as smoothly as it does. Thanks to all.
The 29 th Scenic Sinkhole Scramble will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at
the Koochiching County Fairgrounds. Registration forms will again be placed in
various businesses in the area approximately 2 months prior to the running. You
will also be able to obtain registration forms online at: northlandrunner.com. I will
try and get it listed on the Minnesota Distance Runners calendar. In order to
guarantee a tee shirt on race day, I will need to receive the registration material
by Monday, August 8, 2011. Registration fees will remain the same with $11.00
for pre-registration (received by August 8) and $12.00 on the day of the race.
Also, if a group of 10 or more registers for each participant and the registrations
and payment are mailed in one (1) envelope and it is received by Monday,
August 8, 2011, the registration fee will be $10.00 per person who registers.

The Overall 1 st place finisher for the Males in the 5K was Kenny Miller (16:25)
and for the Females Overall 1 st place was Bailey Drawes (19:51).
