Forthcoming Events 4
After a long two year’s
rollercoaster ride, we have
finally moved!! The South
West Peninsula Deanery
is now housed in our fantastic
new base – RA-
LEIGH BUILDING. Many
people are aware that
there were times when the
relocation seemed an impossible
dream, but like a
lot of things in life, after a
lot of hard work and a few
sleepless
nights!
the dream
came true
and we
moved.
The big day for moving
was Friday 13 th November
2009 (tempting fate I
know!!) with all staff taking
up possession of the new
base on Tuesday 17 th November.
The refurbishment of Raleigh
Building to meet with
our specific requirements
was carried out by contractors
who have worked
hard to meet the deadline
given. It was an interesting
experience to see the
progress from one week to
another and at times it did
not seem possible that the
building would ever be
ready, but as we have
seen, all good things come
to those who wait!
I would like to thank those
few staff who agreed to
give up their weekend to
ensure that the offices
were suitable for human
habitation – wires, boiler
not working, desks to be
moved ensuring DDA
compliance – it was a long
and busy three days –
THANK YOU to Olivia,
Naomi and Kris.
The Deanery was operational,
even if only at a
minimal standard, on
Tuesday 17 th November
and we were fully operational
within a couple of
days.
The last few months have
been an interesting time
as we have settled in.
Teams have worked at
different rates and in different
ways, but I believe
that we are, for the most
part, organised and unpacked.
Some
of you
have
been
able
to visit the new Deanery
offices and I am sure that
you will all agree that it is
a great improvement on
our last location which
ended up extremely
cramped and uncomfortable.
We do miss the
daily contact and interaction
with PCMD, but with a
little more effort these
relationships should continue
to grow.
We are now responsible
for the management and
maintenance of our own
building and this has led to
new challenges for the
Business Team in particular.
Health & Safety and
Facilities Management
have been added to the
remit for both Tina and
Olivia with assistance from
Kris. This has led to a
rather steep ‘learning
curve’ for the team and
hopefully we are now in a
position to deal with most
things!
I would like to pass on my
personal thanks to all
those involved in my gift of
flowers and gift vouchers –
THANK YOU.
