Frequently Asked Questions: 

1. How long do Driver Education classes last? 

The requirement is for 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of road driving to complete the class. Classes are offered separately or together. You 

will need a learner’s permit or license. Registration forms can be picked up in Community School office. Forms cannot be mailed, faxed or downloaded. 

2. Can I have points taken off my license if I take a Defensive Driving Class? 

This class DOES NOT reduce points on your license but offers an insurance reduction only. 

3. How can I find class schedules? 

Class schedules are posted on each school website. You can also go to the Gwinnett County Schools website – www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us. Under Quick Links 

(left side of page) choose Community Schools. Descriptions of classes can be found along with dates and locations. 

4. Can Community School classes be paid by credit card? 

All schools accept credit card payment except Dacula HS, Duluth HS, Grayson HS, Meadowcreek HS, North Gwinnett HS and Peachtree Ridge HS 

5. How can I receive a refund? 

No refunds can be received after the first class. Notice of withdrawal must be received within 4 business days prior to the start of class. 

6. What is the requirement to register for Computer Classes? 

Registration for computer classes MUST be received at LEAST one week before 1st day of class so User ID and Password can be issued. 

7. How can I register for GED Classes? 

Contact Gwinnett Technical College at 678-226-6662. 

8. Do Gwinnett County Community Schools offer ESOL classes? 

Yes, programs are offered in conjunction with Gwinnett Technical College. Contact your local Community School to see if classes are offered at that location. 

9. How often is the community notified of classes offered thru the Community Schools? 

Flyers are distributed in the Gwinnett Daily Post twice yearly. Information is also distributed at cluster schools as well as on GCPS TV. 

10. When are Community Schools closed? 

All Community Schools observe Gwinnett County Public School holidays. If Gwinnett County Public Schools close due to inclement weather, then there will 

be no Community School classes.
