THE FUNDRAISING WHO, HOW, OVERVIEW WHEN’S OF FUNDRAISING
Opportunities are everywhere. Start with those people that you are most comfortable with and
soon you’ll be a pro at raising funds. You may want to start with your:
Family and relatives
Friends and acquaintances
Coworkers and colleagues
Businesses you frequent
Email – One of the most efficient paths of connecting with your donors is through your active.com
account; send them an email with a link to your fundraising webpage where they will be able to
make an online donation.
Letters – If sending an email is not an option, write a letter. Include a pledge form and return
envelope to encourage your recipient to donate. A sample template is provided in this resource
packet.
Phone Calls – A follow up phone call is a wonderful way to make sure your requests have been
received. A personal touch may be all that is needed to get that donation.
Social Media – Post a link on Facebook and/or Twitter to your active.com fundraising page.
Create a buzz and soon all of your friends will be lining up to support you!
It’s always a good idea to start early so people have ample time to donate. This also provides you
time to follow up with those you ask and enough time to reach your fundraising goal.
Team Phoenix does not have a fundraising requirement, but
we do suggest setting a goal $500 per event.
