The PHS Bulletin is prepared by the PHS Parent Board and
distributed by the APCP/PEF Joint Fundraising Office on behalf of
Piedmont High School families, administration, students and teachers.

REMINDER FROM ANNE DOLID, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL The
Parent Student Handbook can be downloaded from both the Parent
and Student Shortcuts on the PHS webpage. It contains important
information about school policies including attendance, academic
integrity and eligibility.
CALLING ALL STUDENT WRITERS
New creative writing group forming - at lunch in the library! Contact

PHS PARENTS' CLUB MEMBERSHIP
You can still sign up for PHS Parents' Club to receive your Student

The PHS clan-o-log does its best to cover the wide variety of
people and activities at PHS and can always use your help!
We love photo contributions from any and all students or
community members! We will accept digital photo contributions
from of any PHS related activity (sports, performances, candids,
activities), from now until March 20. Please email the (jpg or tif

Write the student's name and a brief description of the event in the
subject line and please give some information (who, what , when,

freshman participated in Youth Ambassadors at the

Auditions for the Piedmont High School musical Oklahoma! will be
held Tuesday, September 11 and Wednesday, September 12 after
school on the PHS campus. All PHS and MHS students are invited
to audition and should sign-up at the stage door of the theater as
well as pick up an audition information packet in the theater or the
dance studio. Oklahoma! will be performed February 7-10, 2013 at
Piedmont High School. For more information, contact director Amy

PHS ATHLETICS NEWS
working at FallFest 5K. Race planners are actively
recruiting volunteers to help out as water station
helpers, registration helpers and course set up. To
participate as a volunteer or to sign up to run or

FallFest 5K Runners & Walkers
New for FallFest 2012 are team categories. Prizes
will be awarded to teams with the most creative
costumes (requires 4 or more team members),
teams with the most members and parent/child
teams(2 person teams). Team registrations can't be
accommodated on race day walk up registration, so
sign up in advance!
NEW TO THE SNACK SHACK THIS YEAR
"Street Food" and Football: Next Home Game is this Friday,
9/14
Can you smell it already? Slow Hand BBQ will be on-site
and serving mouth watering BBQ sandwiches. Bring your
appetite! Of course, the hot dogs, nachos and other goodies
will be ready, too. Cash only. Proceeds support all PHS
Athletic teams.

PHS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GOLF FUNDRAISER
Third annual Piedmont Masters to benefit PHS Women's
Basketball. At Tilden Park, on September 14. Check-in at 12:30
p.m. and shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Entry fee of $99 per golfer
includes green fees, golf cart, and banquet dinner. More details and

GLOBAL SHOT DOCTOR at PHS
Piedmont High School men's varsity basketball coach Chris
Lavdiotis and women's varsity basketball coach Bryan Gardere
announce the return of the Global Shot Doctor to Piedmont! The
men's and women's varsity basketball teams will conduct two
shooting clinics with coach Duane Lewis, the Shot Doctor, and
members of the varsity teams, on Sunday, October 28, 2012.
Clinic #1 will run from 12:00-3:00; Clinic #2 will run from 3:00-6:00.
Each clinic will be held in the Piedmont High William "Binks"
Rawlings Gymnasium, 800 Magnolia Avenue, Piedmont. These

clinics are open to boys and girls ages 7-18. The cost is $60 per
clinic. Checks are payable to "PHS Basketball". You may register
online at phsshotdoctor@gmail.com . Or, you can contact Kristin
Bradbury at 510-595-1410 if you need a registration form sent via
US Mail or have any questions. At these clinics, players will learn
how to become better shooters. We will work on shooting form,
including balance and finish; repetition; shooting off the dribble;
hand-eye coordination; proper Free Throw form and finish; and
mental aspects of shooting.
PHS BOOSTERS ANNUAL HIGHLANDER CLASSIC GOLF AND
TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Calling all golf and tennis players -- don't miss the 5th Annual
Highlander Classic at the beautiful Claremont Country Club on
Monday, October 15. This year's Honorary Chair is Dr. John
Whalen, Piedmont High school athletic star and long time Piedmont
resident and pediatrician who provided free physicals to Piedmont
athletes. Lunch for all players begins at 11am; Golf and Tennis
follows at 12 noon and round out the day at the Silent Auction and
Awards Ceremony at 4:30. For more information, contact Kim Lally

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHS GREEN TEAM
Parents, please use Compostable Products and support Zero Waste.
If you are organizing or donating food for a school event, please use
reusable food and drink containers, compostable or paper cups and
coolers instead of single use plastic bottles, paper plates or bowls,
compostable utensils instead of plastic, and paper or cloth tablecloths
instead of plastic.
Need GREEN SUPPLIES? PHS has access to water jugs and purple/
white cloth tablecloths. To make using compostable products as easy and
cost effective as possible, compostable products are available for any
school related function for the bulk/ school discount price. For help, more
information, inventory supplies, or to make green suggestions, contact
Debbie Pfeiffer, dpfeiffer3@gmail.com , Green Team/Green Initiative,
Parent Board rep.
SENIOR PHOTOS
Please contact Jody Weverka
(jweverka@piedmont.k12.ca.us) for important
information and deadlines regarding senior yearbook
photos and quotes. Senior baby and sibling photos
are due by 10/21 and may be emailed in jpg format
to piedmonthighyearbook@gmail.com.
Senior standouts are due to your English Teacher,
Carolina Smit or Ms. Weverka by Friday, 10/7.
Senior portraits must by taken by 10/14 and chosen
by 10/28. Please note that only those portraits with
blue backgrounds are acceptable.
SENIOR PICNIC AT CASTLE ROCK PARK
All PHS and Millennium Seniors are encouraged to
participate in the traditional all-day picnic at Castle
Rock Park in Walnut Creek on Friday, September
21. Buses will board at 8AM from PHS and students
will enjoy a fun and relaxing day with swimming,
softball, frisbee, a BBQ lunch and much more.
Students need to bring sunscreen,hats, swimsuits,
towels, frisbees, balls and water bottles. There can
be bees present so anyone allergenic should be
sure to bring an epi pen or other medicine. Cost is
$40 per student. If you did not pay at registration
send checks or cash only (payable to PHS Senior
Class) to Kim Hebert, 1115 Harvard Rd, Piedmont.
Each student must have a signed permission slip,
which can be turned into the office, at the Senior
Information Night or at the Senior Table at the Back
to School Night. Parent volunteers are needed for all
kinds of jobs like grilling and chaperoning. Please
sign up at the Senior Parent Information Night.
