Ultra-Flat Panel Speakers (HTZ-940DV) 

1-3/16”. That’s the depth of the HTZ-940DV’s ultra-flat 

panel speakers, yet they deliver incredibly rich sound. 

How is this possible? They utilize next-generation NXT* 

SurfaceSound technology to generate sound waves from 

a flat, stiff panel and built-in wide-range tweeters. 

Bottom line: exceptionally well-defined audio, plus they 

look as good as they sound. The stylish, metallic-finish 

speakers and aluminum stands are the perfect visual 

match for a Pioneer PureVision Plasma TV, integrating 

seamlessly into any environment.

Universal Media Compatibility 

The HTZ-940DV, HTD-645DV, and HTD-540DV systems all 

play the latest digital video and audio content: highresolution 

DVD-Audio/SACD, DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, CD, 

and CD-R discs—plus WMA (HTZ-740DV only) and MP3 

audio. To view JPEG picture files, simply load the disc 

and press PLAY; a slideshow begins from the first 

folder/picture stored, and the images are automatically 

adjusted to fit your screen. 

Ultra-Slim Subwoofer and Versatile Speakers 

(HTZ-740DV) 

This system’s ultra-slim subwoofer and tall speakers 

provide several configuration options to fit your room 

layout and décor. The stylish sub can be placed almost 

anywhere in the room and still achieve peak 

performance. The two tall speakers are actually 

comprised of a front speaker and a top-mounted rear 

speaker, which can be detached and positioned behind 

your viewing area for a conventional 5.1-channel 

surround configuration. 

New Plasma TV-Ready SR Remote Control 

When used with a Pioneer PureVision Plasma Television, 

these systems’ TV-ready SR remote control unit can also 

control key TV functions via easy-to-use on-screen 

commands. So, most of the time you’ll be using just one 

remote, not two, to control audio, video, and TV.

Front Stage Surround (HTZ-740DV, 

HTD-645DV, HTD-540DV) 

How do you get 5.1-channel surround 

sound without placing rear speakers 

behind you? It’s simple, with Front Stage 

Surround. Just place the Rear left-and 

right-channel speakers on top of the Front 

left-and right-channel speakers. Pioneer’s 

Direct Diffuse technology then reflects 

these speakers’ signals off the walls and 

ceiling, creating an exceptional audio 

experience (see illustration, below). If you 

don’t want rear speakers — or wires and 

stands — cluttering up your media room, 

this is a perfect solution. 

In addition, this mode gives you three 

great listening options. Extra Power mode 

adds impact to CDs and other audio 

recordings by processing 2-channel stereo 

signals into full-blown 5-channel stereo. 

Front Surround Movie mode creates a 

rich, enveloping surround environment for 

movies. And Front Surround Music mode 

delivers natural-sounding music that fills 

the space all around you. 

Digital Wireless Rear Speaker System 

(HTD-645DV) 

Ready to go wireless? With our Digital 

Wireless Rear Speaker System, you can 

have the full surround impact of rear 

speakers located behind your viewing 

position, with no wires snaking across 

your floor. Unlike lesser wireless 

systems, the HTD-645DV system 

transmits audio information via a highbandwidth 

2.4GHZ digital stream*. Plus, 

Direct Diffuse technology allows you to 

create a broader sound field, even if your 

rear speakers are off-center or too far 

behind your viewing position. Bottom 

line: clean, pure signals to your rear 

speakers. Great surround sound. And no 

wires. 

* The Wireless Rear Speaker uses a 2.4GHz radio wave 

frequency. Certain cordless phones and other consumer 

products used near the Wireless Rear Speaker may result in 

interference.

buy, this feature will enhance the clarity 

of voices on a movie soundtrack, so you 

can hear every line of dialog — even 

during quiet scenes or when an actor is 

speaking over music or sound effects. 

Room Set-Up 

This feature makes home theater setup 

easy. Just touch the Room Set-Up button 

on the remote control*, then choose 

among three room sizes and three 

seating positions to best suit your room 

layout. Based on this input, your new 

system will automatically select the 

optimal acoustic settings. Plus, speaker 

terminals are color-coded to avoid 

confusion during hook-up.
