Honored Guest John Clark<br />
Considered to be the architect of the storied <strong>Plano</strong> Wildcats football program, Coach John Clark joined <strong>Plano</strong> ISD as head<br />
football coach and athletic director in 1966. He established a record of 107 wins and 17 losses, including nine district<br />
championships and two state championships, from 1966 until 1975. Coach Clark retired in 1976 from active coaching to<br />
devote full time to his duties as athletic director for <strong>Plano</strong> ISD. In that position, he helped inspire three more state titles.<br />
In recognition of his contributions to the community’s youth, <strong>Plano</strong> ISD named its first football stadium in his honor in<br />
1977. During his tenure as athletic director, he served on the board of directors of the Texas High <strong>School</strong> Athletic Directors’<br />
Association before becoming president of that organization in 1980. Coach Clark retired from <strong>Plano</strong> schools in 1993. Among<br />
his many awards, Coach Clark was named Dallas Metroplex Coach of the Year by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in 1976,<br />
he was elected to the Texas High <strong>School</strong> Coaches Hall of Honor in 1979, inducted into the <strong>Plano</strong> ISD Athletics Hall of Honor in<br />
2004 and received the prestigious Legends Award at the Second Annual National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame<br />
Gridiron Club of Dallas Awards Banquet in 2010. He has devoted much time and effort, not only to athletics and education,<br />
but also in service to his local community. Coach Clark is a charter board member of the <strong>Plano</strong> Parks & Recreation and <strong>Plano</strong><br />
Sports Authority, served as chairman of the board for his church and has been involved in many community programs.<br />
