Five Draft
Standards
for Review
NEW YORK — ESTA has added three Fog &
Smoke Working Group draft standards, for public
review through Dec. 15, to the two Control
Protocols Working Group draft standards already
posted on its Web site, which are offered
for review through Nov. 24.
The three newly-added standards are:
• BSR E1.5 — 20xx, Entertainment Technology -
Theatrical Fog Made With Aqueous Solutions Of
Di- And Trihydric Alcohols
• BSR E1.23 — 200x, Entertainment Technology
- Design and Execution of Theatrical Fog
Effects
• BSR E1.29 — 200x, Product Safety Standard
for Theatrical Fog Generators that Create Aerosols
of Water, Aqueous Solutions of Glycol or
Glycerin, or Aerosols of Highly Refined Alkane
Mineral Oil.
The one completely new standard in this
list is the last one, BSR E1.29; the others are revisions
of existing American National Standards.
The revisions consist of changing the CAS registry
numbers for dipropylene glycol and mineral
oil to better specify the chemicals used in fog
effects and for which we have health and safety
data in the scientific literature.

CSL Represented by Fushion in Canada
NORTH CREEK, NY — Fushion, Inc. of St.
Lazare, Quebec was named as the representative
for Creative Stage Lighting (CSL) in
Canada, according to CSL president George
B. Studnicky III. Fushion had already offered
the CSL product line to the Quebec, Ontario,
and the Canadian Maritime markets.
“Since we have worked with the highly
talented principals at Fushion for many years,
we are extremely comfortable having them
represent Creative Stage Lighting in Canada.”

Leviton to Open Tennessee Distribution Center
LEBANON, TN —Leviton recently held
a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark plans
to open a 450,000 square-foot automated
distribution facility in the Nashville area in
February 2009. Donald Hendler, president
and CEO of Leviton, Stephen Sokolow,
chairman of Leviton’s board of directors, local
business group leaders and government
officials, attended the event.
The center will serve as one of the company’s
two domestic warehousing and
distribution hubs, servicing U.S. customers
east of the Mississippi River. It will also function
as a regional showcase for the company’s
distribution technology and products,
including its occupancy sensors, light
switches, outlets and commercial networking
devices. It is expected to handle over
half of Leviton’s U.S. order volume and bring
approximately 150 new jobs to the area.
