too. George was an early entrepeneur. You have to admire that spirit in 1900. He was an owner of a Owned a Black Smith's shop. The

age 34. He Here is some of the information I have on George Pluckhahn (Vernon-Brillon). I'm not sure how much of this you may already
know, so bear with me. George Pluckhahn is the father of Adele (my grandmother). He was born on 13 June 1877 and died 4 August 1912.
He married Meta Klug on 14 Sept 1901. The documentation for the marriage is: Located in Volume 33, Page 167 of Milwaukee County
records. Their license number was 6272. The marriage was registered on 24 September 1901. George and Meta were married at Evang.
Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They had, as witnesses to their wedding, Martha Pluckhahn and Alma Klug. Adele Pluckhahn was born 29
May 1902. George and Meta's oldest (Clarence) predates the above listed wedding date. More on George: He was a blacksmith, and worked
for (or with) Theodor Bartel. George lived with the Bartel family, in fact, prior to getting married. Besides the usual blacksmithing, George also
made buggy whips and harnesses. The blacksmith shop was located on a triangle shaped property at Lincoln Ave and Windlake
(Milwaukee). The shop was located in a barn at that intersection. It had a cement trough for the horses, that remained at the site long after
the barn was razed. Here is where it gets interesting, and a little mysterious, if not downright confusing ... There appears to have been TWO
George Pluckhahns, but one was old enough to be an uncle of the other. The death certificate for Grandma Adele's father (George) is
located at Milwaukee County records - certificate # 2277. George died in Milwaukee County Hospital in Wauwatosa. He apparently had an
alias (see? I said it gets interesting...), which was George Engelhardt. His parents were, nevertheless, listed as John Pluckhahn and Mary
Koch. He died of "Empyena" with "contributory" as Pneumonia Labor. He was buried on April 11, 1912 in Honey Creek, West Allis by the J.H.
Koelsch & Son Funeral Home. The family story said he died of pneumonia from a lake mishap, and this may well be true. However, it
appears the older George actually died of the lake mishap in Waukesha County. What are the chances that BOTH George Pluckhahns died
in lake mishaps - at the same lake? Further complicating the story, it now appears that Adele's father may have served time in Milwaukee
County Jail, reason unknown. It was common for prisoners to be buried at the Honey Creek cemetery at that time, so the incarceration could
well be true. Also, interestingly enough, Meta's mother (Wilhelmina Klug) listed on her death notice a survivor "Mary" (Meta) "Erhardt". This
appears to allude to George Pluckhahn's alias, George Englehhardt. Why did George use an alias? And if he was indeed incarcerated, what
was the offense? Grandma Adele never wanted to speak about her father, George. Dad said she wanted to keep something secret, but didn't
know what. Note that George died in 1912. Meta (Klug) Pluckhahn (George's wife), lived with HER father in the 1910 census: April 29, 1910
Meta lived with her father (Edward Klug's family), on 18th Ave., Milwaukee, with her two children. She is listed as married (not widowed), but
no husband is living with her. Again, this would make sense if George was incarcerated. Reference: 1910 census - Wisconsin, MILWAUKEE,
Roll 1726 Book 2, Page 168b: Edward Klug (65) was head of household ...Living with Edward were: Minnie (wife), Frank (son), Alfred (son),
William (son) & Meta Pluckhahn (daughter/head) aged 33 and married, Meta's two children: Clarence and "Adalia" (7). "Adalia" is my
grandmother, Adele. Meta (Klug) Pluckhahn remarried after George died. Her second husband (stepfather to grandma Adele) was George
Lehmann. Meta and Mr. Lehmann never had children of their union
in 2004.
