CosyPUR Visco cVE, a new, open-cell foam for
pillows, neck supports and mattresses, sets totally
new standards.
CosyPUR ® Visco cVE, developed jointly by BASF Polyurethanes
and Visco-Foam S.L. in Spain, represents a truly
relaxing approach to the production of open-cell foams.
The range of foam products for the mattress and furniture
industry has grown markedly in the last few years.
Mattresses call for thick slabstock that has to exhibit a
specific degree of hardness, air-permeability and durability.
Office furniture, on the other hand, has become lighter, thinner
and more elegant. Each application thus requires its own
special, high-quality foam. For some time now, demand has
been lively for viscoelastic foams in the mattress and pillow
industry. Foams for this application have to return slowly to
their original shape. But whatever foam the manu facturer
chooses, the CosyPUR product series from BASF Polyurethanes
covers all requirements.

CosyPUR Supersoft is preferred above all for pillows and
topper pads because it is extra-soft, highly elastic and
extremely air-permeable as well as displaying good
mechanical properties. Viscoelastic foams are
distinguished by their slow recovery after pressure
application and can be anything from hard
to soft. In mattresses, the foam adapts precisely
to the body’s contours and weight distribution
and thus evenly distributes the
pressure on the body. Together with the
young Spanish company Visco-Foam S.L.
near Valencia, BASF Polyurethanes has now
developed a special product that is already
being successfully marketed in Spain.

Chemically viscoelastic foams like new
CosyPUR Visco cVE for pillows, neck sup -
ports and mattresses are highly air-permeable and hence
much more durable. And they come with an unparalleled
array of product properties: open-cell, high air-permeability,
temperature-sensitive, better air circulation during sleep,
washable (in domestic washing machines), suitable for
tumble-drying (at 20 – 60 °C without loss of product properties),
improved product properties, reduced demoulding time
(3 min) and a density range of 35 – 120 g/L. With all these
properties, you can rest assured of market success.
