Individual properties within those areas recommended for inclusion in HO1 have been graded<br />
as Significant, Contributory and Non-Contributory, consistent with the criteria set out in the<br />
<strong>Port</strong> <strong>Phillip</strong> <strong>Heritage</strong> <strong>Review</strong>. Refer to the schedule at Appendix B.<br />
It is further recommended that two nineteenth century cottages in Cambridge Street (nos 12<br />
and 30) which are not within the area proposed to be included in the expanded HO1 be<br />
assessed with a view to applying site-specific <strong>Heritage</strong> <strong>Overlay</strong>s. These cottages appear to<br />
be <strong>of</strong> relatively early origins, particularly when considered in the context <strong>of</strong> the area west <strong>of</strong><br />
the railway line, which was developed later than those areas between the railway line and<br />
the Lagoon.<br />
Notwithstanding the recommendation that the <strong>Heritage</strong> <strong>Overlay</strong> should only be applied to<br />
defined sites and streetscapes within this area, in the light <strong>of</strong> the distinct character <strong>of</strong> the<br />
area as a whole, it is recommended that the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Port</strong> <strong>Phillip</strong> review the current applicable<br />
planning scheme provisions for this general area, including the Local Planning Policy<br />
Framework for neighbourhood character. This review should be directed at assessing<br />
whether there is a need to introduce further built form controls or local policies to ensure the<br />
