MALAYA: Annotated collection in album with many air covers at the 25c rate including some unusual makeups,<br />
'POSTAGE PAID/MALAYA' imprints - including a cutout used on cover - & meters, emergency use of "out-of-State"<br />
stamps including Perak 25c tied by 'ARMY/SIGNALS' cds, mostly with various Australian or Indian pattern FPO cds<br />
but we noticed two with 'NEE SOON/SINGAPORE' cds, etc. {Page 45.1} (113)<br />
NAURU: 1945 Ray Baldwin cover to Sydney with 3d x2 tied by a largely fine strike of 'AUST UNIT POSTAL<br />
STN/28NO45/31.' cds, rubber registration cachet endorsed "UPO 313" in red, minor blemishes, superb Sydney<br />
arrival b/s of 6DE45. One of the most desirable & significant datestamp rarities of the entire WWII field. Proud "N.S."<br />
(= Not Seen). [Collas at page 168 states "In September 1945 it was allocated to a detachment of 31/51 Btn sent to<br />
occupy and garrison Nauru". The remnants of the beleagured Japanese garrison surrendered on 13/9/1945 & were<br />
evacuated to Bougainville]{Page 45.2}<br />
