Film Forum: Strictly Ballroom (1992)<br />

Join us for the last film in our series “LOVE STORY.” Dumped by his partner just before a major<br />

dance competition, gifted hoofer Scott Hastings is forced to take a graceless neophyte as his<br />

new partner. But much to everyone's surprise, Scott soon turns his unpromising protégé into a<br />

topnotch dancer. Bill Hunter, Pat Thomson, Gia Carides and Barry Otto also star in this quirky,<br />

engaging tale from Aussie director Baz Luhrmann. Discussion after the film. Refreshments will be<br />

L'Avant-Scene, the French Theater Workshop, will perform "Fragments XIII": A Student Recital of<br />

Scenes from Classical and Modern French Theater, performed by FRE/THR 211 students.<br />

Students will perform scenes from Corneille (Le Cid), Moliere (Tartuffe, Le Misanthrope, L'Ecole<br />

des femmes & L'Avare), Racine (Britannicus), Marivaux (Le Jeu de l'amour et du hasard),<br />

Feydeau (Un fil a la patte), Claudel (Partage de midi) & Maeterlinck (La Princesse Maleine). In<br />

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS<br />

Science Action is looking for a few energetic Princetonians, ready to put science and<br />

learning into action!<br />

Science Actions helps you produce short science films (you do the research, plot the script,<br />

shoot the film and edit) that will be featured on Princeton’s YouTube page. All final videos<br />

compete in a Spring competition for prize awards.<br />

We’re assembling new Spring semester teams on the following topics:<br />

* Detecting exoplanets that orbit distant stars.<br />

* Influence of the epigenome on the heredity of family traits.<br />

* Perception of three-dimensional images by the human brain.<br />

* Designing nanoparticles for drug delivery.<br />

other SA teams are up to at our end-of-semester meet-up on Dec. 9. (Lunch & apple cider will be<br />

Need Air?<br />

Is your bike feeling sad and lonely and unused because it has no air in its tires? We’re here to<br />

help. Rocky College Office has a professional quality air pump (with Schrader and Presta valve<br />

heads) that you can borrow in addition to bike tools. Please contact csada@princeton.edu for<br />

questions.<br />

Need to Make a Video?<br />

Rocky College Office makes available to its students video, sound,and lighting equipment that<br />

can be borrowed for a 72 hour period. Use it to make videos for class projects or for your<br />

organization. Equipment includes Canon HFS200 camcorder, professional quality tripod, shotgun<br />

mike, and projector lights. Contact avens@princeton.edu to reserve and schedule pick up.<br />

Join the RockyWire listserv<br />

RockyWire is a listserv for the Rocky Community and we invite you to sign up! It’s an open<br />

listserv, which means anyone at Rocky (including upperclassmen) can join and anyone on the list<br />

can post to the list. RockyWire is a venue where members can send announcements, reminders,<br />

requests, and questions. To sign up, just send an email to listserv@lists.princeton.edu with NO<br />

subject and “Subscribe RockyWire” in the body. That’s it. The list is then populated without<br />

anyone having to enter names. You’ll receive confirmation that you’re subscribed, instructions<br />

for posting, and other administrative info (including how to leave the list, ever need to).<br />
