Leon Coetzer
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director
Leon is a qualified chemical engineer. For the last 20 years he has
been employed within the Anglo American plc stable, of which 16
years were spent at Anglo Platinum. His last position was Head of
Process Control and Instrumentation, where he defined and
managed the automation and process control strategy for Anglo
Platinum. The programme has established itself as a recognised
world leader in its field. He is also a member of the Executive Process
Committee, the Research and Development Council and advisor to
the asset optimization initiative at Anglo Platinum. Throughout his
career, he has managed both technical and production units of large
operations including both platinum concentrators and smelters, and
was selected to partake in Anglo American’s global leadership
programme. He is a member of the advisory board of the process
engineering faculties at both the University of Pretoria and the
University of Stellenbosch and is also an executive member of the
South African Council for Automation and Control.
David Russell
Executive Corporate Development
David has a BSc (Special) Honours degree in Geology, a Certificate
in Financial Management and has completed strategic and advanced
management programmes. He is a member of the Australasian
Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the South African Geological
Society, and is a Senior Affiliate of the Australasian Securities Institute.
His strong technical background is complemented by financial
qualifications. He has had an international career as a geologist,
specifically in PGM, nickel and gold, and is a rated mining investment
analyst. He has held senior management and board positions for ASXand
VSE-listed companies and has over 27 years’ experience in the
global mining and resource financing sectors.
Gerry Cooper
VP Engineering and Maintenance
Gerry is a qualified Marine Engineer holding a Class 2 Certificate
of Competency. Mr. Cooper was Group Engineering Manager for
IAMGold before returning to Australia in 2007.
David Trotter
VP Business Development and Marketing
David holds an Honors degree in Metallurgy from the University
of Newcastle and an Master of Business Administration from ECU
in Western Australia. He was previously Marketing Manager and
Chief China Representative at Portman Limited. He further worked
for 25 years with BHP Billiton in senior market development and
management roles. David has broad experience in international
marketing and business development across many commodities
and technologies.
Richard Phillips
Chief Operations Officer
Richard holds a National Diploma in Extraction Metallurgy from the
Technikon Witwatersrand and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the
University of South Africa, and has 30 years’ operational and
management experience in concentrating, smelting and refining of
PGMs. Former Regional Advisor Metallurgy for Anglo Platinum. He
is a fellow of the South African Institute of Mining and Mettalurgy.
Malcolm Lotriet
General Manager – Mining
BSc (Mining Engineering) Pr Eng. 22 years’ mining experience in
narrow reef hard rock mining and kimberlites. Former Mining
Manager for De Beers.
Mark Rosslee
Chief Financial Officer
Appointed as Chief Financial Officer in November 2007, Mark
was previously CFO and Director of Central African Gold, having
held similar positions with Metallon, Southern Era Diamonds and
Southern Platinum Limited. Extensive experience in the mining
industry with the De Beers group at both a corporate and operation
level over a period of 12 years.
