What is fluorspar used for?<br />
Almost all acid grade fluorspar is used in the production<br />
of hydrofluoric acid (HF).<br />
HF USES<br />
• fluoropolymers (eg., Teflon tm )<br />
• fluorocarbons (eg., HFCs, such as Freon tm gas and<br />
other refrigerants)<br />
• pharmaceuticals, such as fluoxetine (prozac)<br />
• aluminium fluoride (AlF 3 ) - an ingredient in aluminium
