Only a Championship may be entered e.g. both competitions at one level, not individual competitions except for FEI
competitions. A maximum of two (2) Championships can be entered by one horse and only three (3) horses per rider
per competition. All EA Freestyle Competitions are open to ponies.
QUALIFYING CRITERIA:
Due to wet weather throughout the year and cancellations of competitions, the OC has agreed to accept ONE
qualifying percentage of 55% for all competitions.
In the event that there are more entries for each competition, a ballot system based on percentage submitted will
determine who will be accepted.
All qualifications must have been achieved between 6 th September 2011 and 13 th September 2012. Qualification
will be based on 1 performance at each level. Results from the Young Riders National Championships will be
considered as a qualification. Hors Concours (HC) result in an Official competition cannot count as a qualification.
Eventing dressage, PCAQ and Interschool dressage are not considered as qualifications.
Competition is restricted to the following numbers:
Preliminary to Elementary – Competitions may be divided with a reserve list
Medium to Advanced – 35 horses
FEI – 35 horses
PE – 35 horses
Young Horses – 30 horses
Reserve lists will be maintained. Riders placed on the reserve list at any level that are not offered a ride, will be
refunded the full amount for that competition only. Riders who are offered a ride at any time up to the start of the
competition that day, and do not accept, will forgo all entry fees for that competition.
eligible for separate ribbons at the presentation stage of the event .
7. To be eligible to compete at the QLD State Championships in Division 2, riders must have at least one
Division 2 qualifying score of min 55%. (Exception- Regional Division 2 riders can qualify with scores from
2012 Qld State Dressage Championship (as from 13 th Aug 2012) Page 3 of 18
Order of the Draw:
1. The OC will place all competitors together in the draw. (i.e. regardless of division).
2. If more than 35 riders nominated for a level, OC reserves the right to split the competition. (Regardless of
Rider Division).
3. In the circumstance that Balloting needs to occur, OC’s must use their nominated DQ approved ballot
system, and not prejudice entry acceptance based on rider divisions. (ie some OC’s use a first in first
allocated basis, others use qualifying percentages)
4. Riders are NOT to be marked as Division 1 or Division 2 on draw.
5. OC can use their discretion in contacting a nominated Division 2 rider if they believe don’t fit the Division 2
criteria.
Scoring:
1. Scorers to score each test as normal.
2. Riders are then ranked as per normal. Both Division 1 and Division 2 riders eligible for main prize pool of
competition.
3. On final scoresheet, Division 2 riders are highlighted for Division 2 Ribbons from 1st to 6th.
4. Champion and Reserve: Division 2 Champion at each level to get a prize.
5. OC’s have the right to choose their scoring method as suits their needs.
6. A combined scoresheet including ranked riders from both divisions MUST also be provided for the purposes
of the National Grading System. (as per usual)
CODE OF CONDUCT
Code of Conduct for the Welfare of the Horse
This code has been developed by the FEI and adopted by EA.
The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) expects all those involved in international equestrian sport to adhere to the FEI’s
Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept that at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never
be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences.
1. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must take precedence over all other
demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation.
2. Horses and competitors must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed to compete. This
encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse
of aids.
3. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground
surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event.
4. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are
treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This covers proper veterinary care, competition injuries,
euthanasia and retirement.
The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise.
A more detailed ‘long version’ of the Code of Conduct, the Annex A FEI Fair Play in Equestrian Sport and Annex B FEI Code of
Conduct Towards Environment are available on the FEI web site www.fei.org
