One of 900 painted boxes<br />
around the city, these eclectic<br />
brightly-painted boxes<br />
may look like works of art but<br />
they do have a real purpose:<br />
to control the traffic lights<br />
at intersections and roundabouts.<br />
Some years ago,<br />
vandals had been enjoying the<br />
tagging these boxes so much<br />
the <strong>Brisbane</strong> City Council<br />
decided to take matters in<br />
hand and encouraged local<br />
residents to decorate these<br />
boxes themselves. It seems<br />
the vandals were deterred and<br />
now the commute to work is<br />
much more entertaining!<br />
