LEAF – Local Enhancement & Appreciation of Forests
LEAF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and improvement of
the urban forest. Since 1996 LEAF has helped citizens plant over 17,000 native trees and
shrubs in their neighbourhoods.
Planting the right tree

We want you to be happy with your tree and we
work to ensure it will have the best chance of
reaching maturity. That’s why we:
• ensure that every tree we plant has enough
room to grow both above and below ground
• assess your backyard for soil and light conditions
• recommend planting locations and species that
will enable you to enjoy your tree now and into
the future
Southern and Central York Region
For residents of Markham, Vaughan, Richmond
Hill, Aurora and Newmarket, we offer a full-service
subsidized program which includes:
• 30 minute yard consultation with an arborist
• 5 to 8 foot tall native tree
• full planting service
• tree care guide
• $150 – $220 inclusive

Northern York Region
For residents of East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King
Township, and Whitchurch-Stouffville we offer a
Do-It-Yourself subsidized program which includes:
• online workshop with videos to help you select
and care for your tree
• 3 to 8 foot tall native trees that you plant yourself
• various delivery and pick up options
• tree care guide
• prices from $25 to $150
Native shrubs also available to all residents of York
Region through both programs.
