SINCE our inaugural issue, much of the (economic)
world has changed. Plunged into a financial crisis,
it now calls for tough, single-minded leaders with a
clear vision and iron will to fix things.
Not only are we talking about the drying up of credit and liquidity,
we're talking about a host of other issues – not least, the
drying up of mother Earth and its ability to sustain itself.
Like never before, the world watched, analysed and speculated
on the US Presidential Elections. Every move, every speech, every
nuance was being dissected in news rooms throughout the
world. Why? Because, as the only super power on the planet – and
despite its slowly diminishing influence – the US is where it all
begins and ends.
From finance to climate change, the world needs and looks to
the US to take the right actions. Which is why the world is looking
to see if the new President can cut it.
For all our sakes, we hope he can turn his magnificent rhetoric
to positive, successful action. Melting glaciers and bankrupt conglomerates
tell us we don't have as much time as we might think
we have.
In tough times, we need tough leadership.
