Whitford is a global manufacturer and supplier
of the world’s largest, most complete line of
high-performance coatings for markets including
industrial, petrochemical, automotive, aeronautics,
marine, food processing, and electrical.
These coatings solve many problems, including
corrosion, abrasion, lubrication, high-temperature,
friction, insulation, and release.
In 2006, Whitford purchased Alpha, manufacturer
and applicator of low-friction coatings that improve
the performance of flexible substrates. Alpha
applies these coatings to automotive sealing
systems to solve problems of “itch and squeak”,
weathering, abrasion, etc. Alpha formulates its
own line of coatings, Resilon®, that allow for improved
processing and outstanding performance
over rubber and plastic substrates.
In crosslinking applications, organic peroxide
products act on the polymer itself, not the
initial monomer. The organic peroxide “builds
bridges” between the polymer chains to
improve the mechanical properties and heat
resistance of the product. In rubber, they are an
excellent alternative to traditional vulcanization
systems (sulfur) to provide nitrosamine-free
solutions. Arkema has over 50 years of experience
in manufacturing organic peroxides.
These products include organic peroxides sold
under the Luperox, Di-Cup, and Vul-Cup trade
names.
