SERVICES PROVIDED: Free ESOL classes for refugees and immigrants at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels; part-time world language classes; ESOL in Northampton and off-site; volunteer tutors*; computer lab; language exchanges; ESOL Certificate teacher-trainings; tutor training; PDPs; workshops on teaching methodology and cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity POPULATION SERVED AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Students must be 18 years of age or older GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE OF SERVICES: Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties COST: Fee waived for DOE-sponsored classes Programs Requiring a Fee: • Intensive English – Classes at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels for students 18 and over; student visa assistance • TESOL – A 4-week certificate program that provides participants with knowledge and skills in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). The course provides practical training, lesson planning, practice teaching and feedback. • World Language Classes in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Elementary, Intermediate and advanced levels; weekend workshops and summer intensives.
