JUNE 5, 2011 PAGE 3 FROM THE PASTOR ... My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Each year through her Sacred Liturgy, holy Mother Church commemorates the mystery of our Lord’s redemptive Incarnation from beginning to end. From Advent to Easter we celebrate the mysteries in the life of our Sovereign Lord as He dwelt among us, submitting His divine and eternal self to the frailty of our human flesh; and from Pentecost to the Feast of Christ the King, we begin the yearly celebration of the life of the Church, the Spouse of Christ who has received the fullness of His merits and graces to offer them to her children in every age. Therefore we see that from December to June we reflect upon the Life of our Lord and from June to December we reflect upon the Life of the Church. At the very center of this, or cor, is the heart of the Liturgical Year. The month of June is most fittingly consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This Heart is the object of divine charity, containing within It the infinite love of God for fallen mankind. This love created us, this love merited us salvation, and this love redeems us by the Church. This June marks the one year anniversary of our new parish dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In this short time we have received so many blessings from the infinite treasury of our Lord’s divine Heart. In thanksgiving for these bountiful blessings and to give glory to Almighty God, our parish began a Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this past Friday. Following a custom established at St. Margaret Mary Parish, we will have the Novena following our Friday 12:10 Mass. We invite you to participate in this beautiful prayer. We will also begin home Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. You will find more information about this religious ceremony on page 6 of this bulletin. To conclude this month, we will have a Solemn Celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Patronal Feast of our Parish. This celebration will be at all of the Masses the weekend of July second and third, culminating with a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form at five o’clock in the evening on Sunday the third followed by a procession and benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Let us rejoice in the Bountiful Love found in His Most Sacred Heart and be thankful for His many blessing to our parish and to each and every one of us. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the Solemn Procession of the Blessed Sacrament following our Mass at eleven thirty on the Feast of Corpus Christi (June twenty-sixth). This was a wonderful custom of St. Gregory the Great brought to our new parish. We hope that many of our children of this year’s First Communion and Confirmation Classes, our Altar Servers, Knights of Columbus, Women’s Guild and the many other groups of our parish will be able to participate. I would like to congratulate our young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Lennon last Sunday. Let us remember them in our prayers as they strive to live out the Faith in their daily lives. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to ask all of you to remember Father Winkel in your prayers. Father is celebrating forty years of Priestly Service to the Church. It is a blessing to have him at our parish. May God’s blessings be yours this Easter Season. Father Ireland Children’s Scripture Corner Before Jesus went back to heaven, he gave his friends a very special job - to share the good news! Jesus came so that the whole world could be saved, and He did not want anyone to be left out. Now it's your turn to tell your friends about Jesus, so they can go to heaven, too. Prayer: “Jesus, show me how to tell my friends about you.” Something to Draw: Draw a picture of yourself telling a friend about Jesus. Mission for the Week: Invite a friend over to play.
