took hours. We saw we could not camp at the village,
the gorge working site would have been a 6 km walk in.
But it would have taken at least one week for the now
unused track to be cleared and we would have had to
incur the cost of the villagers doing this.
We thus decided to get someone who would accompany
us to the area. We camped in a clearing when the stumps
in the road prevented us from going further. This camp
was made as dusk approached and elephants were
present. We reached a point where we could not proceed
any fuather and camped there in the Namatimbili forest
(37L 0525733, UTM 899204x). But this camp was too
far from the water for a permanent camp.

to the high prices charged by them for daily labour.
