<strong>The</strong> FTA provides funding for public transit projects, including fixed rail transit, rail<br />
modernization, buses and bus facilities (including the purchase of alternatively<br />
fueled buses), and other public transit projects. Other sources of funding include<br />
programs administered by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy; in many<br />
areas, state and local funding programs are in place.<br />
