STRING QUARTET PERFORMS
STUDENT COMPOSITIONS
Last Tuesday, Year 11 music students
exposed their compositions to a group of
musicians. Mr Nicholas Newell, Violin I,
Miss Tara Chan, Yr 12 Violin II, Mrs Fiona
Thompson, Viola and Miss Zari Newell,
Cello, combined to workshop and perform
a theme and variation quartet composed in
a classical style. Throughout the opening
semester of the Preliminary Music Course
Charlotte Brew, Isabelle Houston, Lili
Hoskins, Tom Morris, Lily Wright, Jarred
MacKay and Sarah Morris spent many hours
creating their works in our composition
lab exploring conventional harmony and
balanced phrase as part of their study of
music from 1600-1900. The quartet selected
their favourite three and performed them at

Revelations
Year 6 have been very busy writing ads for
ASC Pre-kindergarten as part of the Western
Advocate’s Junior Press Supplement which was
published last Friday. Sadly only one ad could
be chosen for the Advocate so we thought we’d
share some more ads through Revelations.

NORTH WEST EQUESTRIAN EXPO
The North West Equestrian Expo at
Coonabarabran had a record number of entries
at over 600 for this year’s event. All Saints’
were represented in every equestrian discipline
offered. A testament to our talented and diverse
riders. Some notable placing’s were the team
of Aimy Butt, Emily Sinderberry and Teagan
Miller who placed first in the Team Penning
Event. Sarah Farraway took out the title of
Reserve Champion Rider for the 15 years age
group and Champion Elementary Dressage
Rider, Madeline Sinderberry was awarded
Reserve Champion 13years Showjumper and
Amber Stockman, the Reserve Champion
Preliminary Dressage Rider. This year’s team
was made up of: Alice Woodlock (Captain),
Aimy Butt, Molly Gorman, Sophie Stockman,
Lyndsay Menzies, Emily Sinderberry, Skye
Ramsay, Sarah Farraway, Catie Crampton,
Sophie Jones, Lilly McClelland, Teagan Miller,
Heidi Stokes, Charlotte Trounson, Amber
Stockman, Madi Sinderberry, Maddy Harley,
Ruby Woodlock, Georgia Butt. Possibly the

highlight of the week was All Saints’ taking
out the Grand Parade award for the best
presented large school.
SURVEY
Recently we were asked to be involved in a
survey about how Year 12 students perceive
tertiary education providers and what
factors they consider when deciding where
to undertake university study. Below is a link
to Year 12 students that are interested in
going on to University in the coming years
and wish to participate. The research will

Rev. Tony Card
“…for he was a good man, full of the
Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many
people were brought to the Lord.”(Acts
11:24, NRSV)
These are some of the words written
about Barnabas, who is celebrated as
a saint across the church on the 11th of
June. The name Barnabas means ‘son of
encouragement’. It was the name given
to a man named Joseph, one of the early
church leaders. His name has been taken
by five of the thirty one parishes across
our Diocese as the name for their church
as they seek to live the example of his life.
His life provides us with both an example
of Christian living and a challenge to do
the same.
Joseph was a Levite, a Jewish religious
leader, who had come to faith in Jesus the

Messiah. His faith in Jesus was so strong
that he turned his back on Judaism and
set about telling others the good news. It
is understood that he followed the practice
of the early church and sold all that he
had and placed his money in the common
purse. This must have been a huge step of
faith as he left behind all that was familiar
and comfortable and stepped out into the
unknown. His example challenges us to
answer the call that God has placed on our
lives. Are we prepared to leave behind that
which is familiar and comfortable; career,
wealth, possessions, to follow Jesus and
take his message to others?
As honourable as Joseph’s sacrifices were,
it is not for these that he is remembered.
Joseph was a man who spoke the truth
about Jesus and encouraged others in their
faith. He was given the name Barnabas in
recognition of this work. He challenges us
to encourage those around us as we journey
together in our faith.
We can never overestimate the power of
encouragement. It may be by our words,
or something we do, or it may just be our
ATTENTION ALL GARDENERS!!!!
presence that provides the encouragement
that someone else needs. Over the years I
have heard a number of people complain
that a particular church doesn’t have
enough young families, or children,
or youth, or whatever, and so they stop
going there. What they fail to see is that
by going along that they are encouraging
the people who are there, and as they are
encouraged so too will they encourage
others, and before you know it there
is a healthy and vibrant community of
believers.
Jesus started his church by calling two
people to follow him. Others joined later
and today roughly a third of the world’s
population identifies as Christian.
Barnabas put his trust in Jesus and as
a result of his encouragement “a great
many people were brought to the Lord.”
Will we trust Jesus and encourage others
to do the same?

Equestrian Team’s fantastic week at Coonabarabran
What a fantastic week the equestrian team had at
the Coonabarabran High School Expo this year,
certainly our most successful yet, made so by a
group of talented riders and capable parents.
The week began on Wednesday with the Stockmans
and the Menzies camping at Mendoran that evening
in order to gain an early start in the morning. We
arrived virtually in convoy at 6.30am the next
morning camping very near our usual spot. We
began with eventing having a rider in each grade.
The A graders performed really well with Sophie
Stockman, Skye Ramsay and Lyndsay Menzies
finishing in the Top 10. Sarah Farraway came out
on top in the B grade.
We were also well represented on the weekend in
the combined training (a combination of dressage
and show jumping) and the working horse challenge
(a workout of the basic challanges of a working
stock horse). The girls all did really well with tough
competition.
The six bar competition consists of six jumps in
a line with increasing height that go up after each
clear round. Our show jumpers did well coming
4th overall. Unfortunatly, our first polo-x team
was up against a far more experienced side and
was knocked out first up but our second team with
Georgia Butt and Heidi Stokes made it through to
the second round, great effort.
The dressage and show jumping was held on
Monday. Maddi Sinderberry was reserve champion
show jumper for her age group and came a very
creditable second in the highest grade. Sarah
Farraway was reserve champion for her age group
and also in the elementry dressage and Amber
Stockman was reserve champion for the prelim
dressage.
The stock horse time trial and Warrumbungle Way
(a test of stockmanship) was held on the Monday
as well with Saints’ represented in both events.
We also showed talent in our team barrel racers.
The hacking was held on the Tuesday with Sarah
Faraway running away with many awards on her
well performed horse Rum n’ Coke. Our team
penning team consisting of Teagan Miller, Emily
Sinderberry and Aimy Butt took out first place in
this event.
It was great to see Stewart Ross and Peter Miller
over the weekend. We were all pleased that they
were able to come and support us when they are
both so very busy.
The two highlights of the Expo were the winning
of the prestigious presentation trophy, thanks to our
talented style queen Nic Stockman and a band of
very helpful and capable parents. The team looked
amazing and were a real credit to the school.
The other highlight was the raising of exactly
$1000 for the Coonabarabran RDA. Wadalba
Community school helped us this year in selling
tickets. Ian Menzies made and donated the major
prize and co-ordinated the effort. The riders did
a great job selling them when many were event
weary and tired.

All of these topics will be discussed to emphasise the importance
that ALL players, coaches, managers and officials should be
educated in the same way to encourage a better environment for all
involved in Hockey and to get the best out of all involved.
