PRE-KINDERGARTEN News
Isabella, Ayla and Emma have enjoyed constructing with Poly M this
week and have made bubble blowers.
This week we have rugged up and braved the cold mornings
only to be rewarded with much warmer middays. Our class
work has been associated with the ‘m’ sound, the number
6 as well as the popular Milly and Molly Program. The
children have enjoyed several stories associated with
the ‘m’ sound including ‘My Cat Maisie’ by Pamela Allen
and ‘Mutt Dog’ by Stephen Michael King. Both books
are based around the theme of adopting a stray animal,
which prompted much discussion. Another story that was
very popular is ‘Milly the Meerkat’ by Oakley Graham.
Milly learns about the importance of telling the truth.
In Mathematics we are exploring the number 6 and will
be completing many hands-on activities to help children
to identify, name and sequence numbers as well as write
the number 6. We have learnt about responsibility in the
Milly and Molly Program, which is also our news topic for
the week. It has been interesting hearing about what
responsibilites each child has, especially children who
have pets. Kind Regards, Deb Porter
From the
Chaplain
Rev. Tony Card
You have believed another message, when there
is really only one true message. (Galatians 1:6-
7, CEV)
The Apostle Paul was writing to the new
churches in the region of Galatia, in ancient
Asia Minor. As you can tell from his comment,
he was concerned that these new Christians
had begun listening to a different message
regarding the good news of God shown in
Jesus Christ. Paul was particularly concerned
that these new believers understood the
truth and were not dragged off into distorted
or false views of salvation. So what was the
message that Paul was so keen for them, and
ASC Under 11s V St. Pats Blue - Saturday 18th May
Our Gappie Coach Julia summed it up in the after match debrief “A
valiant effort against a very good opposition”. St Pats capitalised
through a couple of strong District Rep players in their ranks,
contributing to a tough loss for our girls going down 7-1. Congrats to
player-of-the-match Sami on a dominant display, ably supported by
our striker and lone goal scorer Ailee. Our backs Ella, Natalia and GK
Darcie had the most work to do, shutting down many opportunities
generated by the strong St Pats attack. Claire and Matilda had little
opportunity to shine this week, with play rarely getting out to the wing
positions, but when it did they performed well. Meanwhile, every time
our halves and inners Millicent, Maddie, Indy and this week’s Captain
Portia, thought they could move up in attack, no sooner did they find
they were having to turn and fall back in defence (the red faces and
beads of sweat reflected the big effort). Each week the passing gets
better, the knowledge of the game improves, and the growing trust
in your own ability and that of your teammates is helping to build a
cohesive unit. Keep up the good work girls, and above all enjoy your
hockey. By Dion Killiby
ASC Twinkles
Whilst defeated two to one
The Twinkle kids had heaps of fun,
In the first quarter through exceptional skills Hannah scored
But the others certainly weren’t bored,
In the wing position she was brilliant that Collette
They were sure to win, you would bet,
The brilliant passing by Kate
Made them all look great,
Maayan’s concentration in the game was inspirational
It made the team members play with determination that was insatiable,
Charlee’s energy in the game grew exponential
She was really dependable,
Grace played so well
That the game really did go to the bell,
us, to understand? Let me cover the three most
important aspects of Paul’s teaching.
First, Paul was quite clear that there was only one
way for humankind to be reconciled with God and
each other, and that was through the death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ. No action on our
part can bring about this reconciliation. Belief in
other gods is futile - there is only one path to the
top of the mountain.
Second, Paul understood and taught that Jesus
died for all humankind for the forgiveness of all
sin; past, present, and future. Our faith in what
Jesus has done secures our salvation - there is
no doubt, no question, no ifs, buts or maybes; if
we believe in Jesus and what he has done then
our eternal future is secure; our earthly death is
merely a transition to our eternal life with Christ.
Nothing we have done in the past can disqualify
us from this future.
Third, Paul knew and taught that the Christian
life is not an easy one. He knew first hand of
HOCKEY REPORT
HOCKEY REPORTS
NETBALL REPORTS
the persecution and suffering that comes
with living a life that is counter-cultural,
proclaiming a message of love and healing
in word and action. Any message that we
hear that suggests that being a Christian is
all about being healthy, wealthy and happy is
a deception. Sure, these things may come;
God does bless us for our faithfulness, but it
doesn’t mean we are all going to drive luxury
cars and live in palatial homes!
Paul knew all too well what it was like to
have his life totally transformed by the love of
Christ. He wants the same for all of us. Our
challenge is to open ourselves to this love
and receive Christ into our hearts.
With every blessing,
Rev. Tony Card.
Thought for the week: A quote from Paul, “Do
you think I am trying to please people? If I were
doing that, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
ASC Hot Shots
The Hot shots had an amazing game on Saturday the 25th. They had
a loss but played very well, learning lots of new skills and teamwork.
Lauren, Megan and Kate played great defence. We had very good
players as shooter and goal attack, Georgie and Phoebe. Our attackers
Georgia, Aria and Sophie had their work cut out for them against
the strong opposition but all girls showed great sportsmanship!
The final score was 23-0 but we couldn’t have played that
game without our awesome coaches, Mrs Cant and
Sophie Cant. Our player of the week went to Kate Dowd.
Megan Redpath.
Rostered off for 1.6.13 are Jorja Dickie and Georgie Geyer
ASC All Stars
On Saturday the All Saints’ All Stars played against the Collegians
Cubs. The Cubs were on fire in the first half. Then the All Stars started
to bring it back with it being 7 all at the end of the third quarter. In
the final quarter the girls decided it was game on. They shot ahead at
the start of the last quarter popping three goals in the ring, one after
another. Congratulations to Madi who got player of the match for her
excellent work in centre court. All the girls did a fantastic job with
the end score being 12-9 to the All Stars. We look forward to seeing
everyone next Saturday for another great game.

6 YEARS AUDIS
Saturday was a beautiful day for a game of soccer! The sun was out
and the crowd was pumped to see all the action between the ASC Audis
and the Bathurst 75 Royals. The 75’s were a far more experienced
team, but we gave it a great shot! Evie Brown’s Ball skills have shown
real improvement with her making contact on a number of occasions
and also ensuring not a single flower was left on the pitch for the
next game. “The Cooney Contribution” showed some real promise
last week with bravery and stamina and this week was no exception.
The “Talented Trio” comprising of Banjo, Koby and Lachlan
continued to show real determination and ongoing skills development.
Banjo taking home this week’s medal.
6 YEARS ALFAS
Well the sun was shining on what was a wet but well manicured field.
Again a healthy crowd was on hand as the Alfas took on the Bathurst 75
Warriors. From the onset both teams went goal for goal with both Jake
Pezzuto and Aston Hornery leading the charge. At one stage coach Simm
thought he had 6 players on the field as Josh McNamara and Blake Harris
seemed to be everywhere with both boys stopping the Warriors at will and
moving the ball forward for the Alfas forward line. I’m not sure what was
in the half time oranges but Hayden Simm was unstoppable in the second
half with his quick thinking and excellent support play evident for all to
see. With the wet training season the coach’s training medal was turned into
the sportsmanship award with Aston Hornery claiming this and Hayden
Simm taking out the player of the week award. Well done to both boys.
Again a big thanks to the supporters from both sides for their positive
encouragement. Coach Trevor Simm
6 YEARS MERCS
Another week, another challenge ahead of the Mercz as they lined up
against what seemed like an army of Bathurst 75, there was enough of
them for 2 teams! However the Mercz were undaunted and were once
again “Hungry for the ball”, chasing the opposition down and making the
most of opportunities when shooting at the goal. Samuel was right in the
mix and got the ball numerous times. Milla scored her first ever goal and
Lachie got to the ball quicker. Evy continued to show great determination
and control when dribbling and Riley must have put on his super powered
blasting boots because every time he kicked the ball it went flying! Riley
was player of the week and once again everyone had a great fun game.
8 YEARS BENTLEYS
On Saturday the mighty Bentleys took on the
Subways for their best game of the season so
far. The boys really started working together
as a team, passing the ball to each other and
spreading out across the field. Player of the
Week went to Toby Gough who had a very
exciting game with a magnificent goal. Well
done to Toddy Nelson, Charlie Rendall,
Josh Hunter (and of course all of their team
mates who assisted them) who ensured much
squealing from the sideline with their shots at
goal also being successful. Keep up the great
work boys! Miss Sophie Hanigan
10 YEARS HUMMERS
It’s was great to join the team in a great autumn day at Proctor Park. The
team turned up early and very keen to play a game. From the kick off the
boys and girls looked like a team that meant business and shared the ball
all over the field looking for other players to pass to and gain possession.
This to me was the highlight of the day, the way the team play soccer for
each other and enjoy the game. Jack V gained the medal for his efforts
and his ability to look around for teammates in attack. Dylan was great in
defence, Angus and Hugo peppered the goals along with Andy and his skill
around the box. Midfield was taken care of by Jono, Jacqui and Tamar,
while Jack T seemed right on the spot when needed. A special thanks to
Mitch who answered the call on his week off and Pat tried as much as ever
in attack pushing himself to the limit. Great game and a pleasure to been
involved in. Andrew Rendall
11 YEARS JAGUARS
The Under 11 Jaguars played Eglinton in a very tough battle last Saturday.
The boys all tried hard throughout the game, but the Eglinton team proved
to be too strong resulting in a 7-2 loss (goals to Lachlan Roach and Sam
Rendell). Thank you to Hugo Goodlet, Andrew Jackman and Angus Rendell
from the Under 10 side for playing. Player of the Week was awarded to Sam
Rendell who tried very hard in goals during the first half and never gave up
trying throughout the game.
U12 Sat 25/5
We were very unlucky to lose this game as our dominance in the first half
did not translate into goals with many near misses. Once again Bailey
produced a fantastic goal with a brilliant through ball by Jock which was
even more exceptional as he finished on his wrong foot. Bathurst 75 really
only had one opportunity in the first half and took full advantage of the
opportunity right on the half time siren. Going into the half time break at
one all was disappointing and our opposition lifted in the second half on
the back of this. The second half was much more even with both sides
producing some good soccer and setting up chances. It was Bathurst 75
that managed to find the back of the net and even though the boys lifted
there was to be no last minute goal this game. Even though the team were
under pressure on the scoreboard I was really impressed by some of their
positive teamwork. Jock won the medal this week for not only another
great game but through his teamwork and positive attitude on the pitch.
