Integrating Strategies to Address Gender-‐based Violence and Engage Men and Boys to Advance Gender Equality through National Strategic Plans
on HIV and AIDS
Country Action Plan – Template
1) Identification of priority country policy strengths (to be built on) and priority gaps (to fill) – informed by policy scan tool and the key concepts
session
2) Identification of key interventions to address these gaps (evidence, examples of good practice, examples of NSP ‘content’, tools, etc) – informed
by the strategy sessions and the Gender Roadmap
Myanmar NSP is recently developed for 2011-‐2015 and Gender equality is generally addressed in this NSP. Two main gaps are identified
engaging men and boys in GBV and HIV in order to integrate current NSP as local organization’s and community responses by National NGO
Network (HIV/AIDS) and Myanmar Positive Women Network.
Key Strengths Priority Gaps Key intervention / entry point
NSP focus on specific target groups as
the priority target groups such as MSM,
Sex works, IDU and their clients. All
strategies include increasing access to
services and non-‐discrimination.
Meaningful involvement of and
leadership by women living with
HIV. GBV is not mention specific
limited as all representatives in
CCM and National Strategy Group
(HIV) are men.
stated in PMTC in NSP .Antenatal care for
PMTCT.
equity in treatment and Care economy
targets, need for further evidence, etc – informed by Gender Roadmap / compendium of resources
