A real data example: Residuals from height
measurements
Height measurements were obtained for 51 girls at 26
unequally spaced ages ranging from 3 to 18 years.
These data were fit by smooth monotone functions, each
girl’s data being fit separately.
The differences between the actual measurements and the
corresponding function values were computed.
The next figure shows the covariances among these
differences or fit residuals.
