INSTRUCTIONS: RENEWAL OF FIREARM LICENCE - TRANSITIONAL PERIOD
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
• The renewal of firearm licence - transitional period must be
completed in black ink that cannot be erased.
• The firearm licence holder must complete Sections A and B.
• The form must be stamped with the official date stamp by the
police station who did the inspection.
• A person is guilty of an offence in terms of the Firearms Control
Act, 2000 (Act No 60 of 2000), if he/she provides information
which he/she knows is false on this renewal of firearm licence -
transitional period form.
SECTION A: PARTICULARS OF THE FIREARM LICENCE HOLDER
1. NATURAL PERSON’S DETAILS
2. Surname
The surname of the firearm licence holder must be recorded in
paragraph A 2.
3. Full names
The full names of the firearm licence holder must be recorded in
paragraph A 3.
4. Identity number of natural person
The identity number of the firearm licence holder must be
recorded in paragraph A 4.
5. Passport number of natural person
The passport number of the firearm licence holder must be
recorded in paragraph A 5.
6. Residential address
The physical address where the firearm licence holder resides
must be recorded in paragraph A 6.
7. Postal code
The postal code of the firearm licence holder ’s residential
address must be recorded in paragraph A 7.
8. JURISTIC PERSON’S DETAILS
9. OTHER BODIES
10. Registered company name
The registered company name of the firearm licence holder must
be recorded in paragraph A 10.
11. Trading as name
The trading as name of the firearm licence holder must be
recorded in paragraph A 11.
12. Business address
The physical address where of the firearm licence holder
conducts business must be recorded in paragraph A 12.
13. Postal code
The postal code of the firearm licence holder ’s business
address must be recorded in paragraph A 13.
SECTION B: PARTICULARS OF SAFE STORAGE FACILITY
1. Safe
The particulars of the safe must be recorded in paragraph B 1.
2. Strongroom
The particulars of the strongroom must be recorded in paragraph
B 2.
3. Device
The particulars of the device must be recorded in paragraph B 3.
4. Apparatus
The particulars of the apparatus must be recorded in paragraph
B 4.
5. Instrument
The particulars of the instrument must be recorded in paragraph
B 5.
6. Short description of the safe, strongroom, device, apparatus
or instrument
A short description of the safe, strongroom, device, apparatus or
instrument must be recorded in paragraph B 6.
I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE ABOVE SAFE, STRONGROOM,
DEVICE, APPARATUS OR INSTRUMENT HAS BEEN PHYSICALLY
INSPECTED BY ME AND THAT IT COMPLIES WITH THE
REQUIREMENTS FOR SAFES, STRONGROOM, APPARATUS,
DEVICE OR INSTRUMENTS FOR THE SAFE KEEPING OF
FIREARMS IN TERMS OF REGULATION 28 OF THE ARMS AND
AMMUNITION REGULATIONS, 1994.

The initials and surname (in block letters) of the Designated
Firearms Officer/police official who inspected the safe,
strongroom,
device, apparatus or instrument must be recorded in paragraph
B 7.
8. Date
The date on which the safe, strongroom, device, apparatus or
instrument was inspected must be recorded in paragraph B 8.
9. Rank of Designated Firearms Officer/police official in block
letters
The rank (in block letters) of the Designated Firearms
Officer/police official who inspected the safe, strongroom,
device, apparatus or instrument must be recorded in paragraph
B 9.
10. Place
The city/town where the inspection was done must be recorded
in paragraph B 10.
11. Signature of Designated Firearms Officer/police official
The signature of the Designated Firearms Officer/police official
who inspected the safe, strongroom, device, apparatus or
instrument must be recorded in paragraph B 11.
12. Persal number of the Designated Firearms Officer/police
official
The SAPS Persal number of the Designated Firearms
