<strong>SCANA</strong> <strong>Elects</strong> <strong>Two</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Directors</strong><br />

Columbia, SC, January 2, 2008…<strong>SCANA</strong> Corporation (NYSE: SCG) announced the election <strong>of</strong><br />

two new members to its <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Directors</strong> today – James M. Micali, Chairman and President <strong>of</strong><br />

Michelin North America; and James W. Roquemore, CEO and Chairman <strong>of</strong> Patten Seed<br />

Company.<br />

<strong>SCANA</strong>'s <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Directors</strong> voted on December 31, 2007 to increase the size <strong>of</strong> the <strong>SCANA</strong><br />

Corporation <strong>Board</strong> from ten to twelve members. The <strong>Board</strong> elected Micali and Roquemore to<br />

serve in the newly created seats until the next annual meeting <strong>of</strong> shareholders at which time the<br />

<strong>Board</strong> plans to propose each <strong>for</strong> election by the shareholders.<br />

James M. Micali<br />

Micali was appointed chairman and president <strong>of</strong> Michelin North America in 1996. He received<br />

his legal degree from Boston College Law School in 1973. After practicing law with Higgins,<br />

Cavanagh & Cooney in Providence, R.I., Micali joined Michelin in 1977 and held a number <strong>of</strong><br />

positions in the legal department, including two assignments in France, through 1984. He was<br />

named general counsel and secretary <strong>for</strong> Michelin North America in 1985, and became<br />

executive vice president <strong>of</strong> the North American legal and finance functions in 1990.<br />

Micali was named a member <strong>of</strong> the Michelin Group Executive Council in 2001. He served the<br />

rubber industry as chairman <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> the Rubber Manufacturers Association <strong>for</strong> a oneyear<br />

term concluding in 2002. He was elected to the board <strong>of</strong> directors <strong>of</strong> Sonoco in 2003 and<br />

served on the board <strong>of</strong> directors <strong>of</strong> Lafarge North America from 2004 to 2006. In 2004, the<br />

Richard W. Riley Institute <strong>of</strong> Government, Politics and Public Leadership at Furman University<br />

named Micali a distinguished senior fellow in political economy and leadership management. He<br />

is immediate past chairman <strong>of</strong> the S.C. Manufacturers Alliance and currently chairs the S.C.<br />

Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce.<br />

Micali is a guest lecturer at Furman University and previously served on the board <strong>of</strong> directors<br />

<strong>for</strong> St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C. He has also received the Order <strong>of</strong> Merit from the<br />

French government.<br />

James W. Roquemore<br />

Roquemore is CEO and Chairman <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> Patten Seed Company, the nation’s top<br />

producer <strong>of</strong> warm-season turfgrass sod and seed. Under the direction <strong>of</strong> Roquemore and his<br />

late father, W. A. Roquemore, be<strong>for</strong>e him, Patten Seed has grown from a small business in<br />

Lakeland, Georgia to having farms located throughout Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina<br />

and Virginia.<br />

With more than 19,000 acres under cultivation, including an extensive pecan operation <strong>for</strong><br />

wholesale nut production and nursery tree stock, Patten Seed Company is today one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

largest and most diversified agricultural businesses in the South, and one <strong>of</strong> the largest<br />

turfgrass producers in the world. In addition to its farm <strong>of</strong>fices, Patten Seed Company has 15<br />

sod sales <strong>of</strong>fices strategically located in the southeast.<br />

Roquemore serves on the Southeast Region and National <strong>Board</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the Boy Scouts <strong>of</strong> America.<br />

He also serves on the <strong>Board</strong> <strong>of</strong> SC Bank and Trust. He is currently the Agribusiness Co-<br />

Chairman <strong>for</strong> “New Carolina” – South Carolina’s Council on Competitiveness – and is the Past<br />

President and Current <strong>Board</strong> Member <strong>of</strong> the Palmetto Agribusiness Council.<br />

Roquemore has received many awards and honors throughout his career, including the<br />

Governor’s Order <strong>of</strong> the Palmetto, Orangeburg Citizen <strong>of</strong> the Year, the Silver Beaver Award <strong>for</strong><br />

the Boy Scouts <strong>of</strong> America and a SC Ambassador <strong>for</strong> Economic Development, 2001.<br />
