SCANA Elects Two for Board of Directors
Columbia, SC, January 2, 2008…SCANA Corporation (NYSE: SCG) announced the election of
two new members to its Board of Directors today – James M. Micali, Chairman and President of
Michelin North America; and James W. Roquemore, CEO and Chairman of Patten Seed
Company.
SCANA's Board of Directors voted on December 31, 2007 to increase the size of the SCANA
Corporation Board from ten to twelve members. The Board elected Micali and Roquemore to
serve in the newly created seats until the next annual meeting of shareholders at which time the
Board plans to propose each for election by the shareholders.
James M. Micali
Micali was appointed chairman and president of Michelin North America in 1996. He received
his legal degree from Boston College Law School in 1973. After practicing law with Higgins,
Cavanagh & Cooney in Providence, R.I., Micali joined Michelin in 1977 and held a number of
positions in the legal department, including two assignments in France, through 1984. He was
named general counsel and secretary for Michelin North America in 1985, and became
executive vice president of the North American legal and finance functions in 1990.
Micali was named a member of the Michelin Group Executive Council in 2001. He served the
rubber industry as chairman of the board of the Rubber Manufacturers Association for a oneyear
term concluding in 2002. He was elected to the board of directors of Sonoco in 2003 and
served on the board of directors of Lafarge North America from 2004 to 2006. In 2004, the
Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership at Furman University
named Micali a distinguished senior fellow in political economy and leadership management. He
is immediate past chairman of the S.C. Manufacturers Alliance and currently chairs the S.C.
Chamber of Commerce.

Micali is a guest lecturer at Furman University and previously served on the board of directors
for St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C. He has also received the Order of Merit from the
French government.
James W. Roquemore
Roquemore is CEO and Chairman of the Board of Patten Seed Company, the nation’s top
producer of warm-season turfgrass sod and seed. Under the direction of Roquemore and his
late father, W. A. Roquemore, before him, Patten Seed has grown from a small business in
Lakeland, Georgia to having farms located throughout Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina
and Virginia.
With more than 19,000 acres under cultivation, including an extensive pecan operation for
wholesale nut production and nursery tree stock, Patten Seed Company is today one of the
largest and most diversified agricultural businesses in the South, and one of the largest
turfgrass producers in the world. In addition to its farm offices, Patten Seed Company has 15
sod sales offices strategically located in the southeast.
Roquemore serves on the Southeast Region and National Boards of the Boy Scouts of America.
He also serves on the Board of SC Bank and Trust. He is currently the Agribusiness Co-
Chairman for “New Carolina” – South Carolina’s Council on Competitiveness – and is the Past
President and Current Board Member of the Palmetto Agribusiness Council.
Roquemore has received many awards and honors throughout his career, including the
Governor’s Order of the Palmetto, Orangeburg Citizen of the Year, the Silver Beaver Award for
the Boy Scouts of America and a SC Ambassador for Economic Development, 2001.
