System Introduction The system chapter describes the architecture, the dimensions, the quantities and different types of components used within this system. Architecture General The controller in this application is a Modicon M238 Logic controller. The user can control and monitor the application using the Magelis HMI device. The motor drives, which are hardwired to the controller, are of the type Altivar 12, Altivar 312 and servo drive Lexium 32C. The example application includes two functional safety options according to EN ISO 13849-1 standards: an Emergency Stop function supervised by a Preventa Safety Module (see the appropriate hardware manual), plus a second Preventa Safety Module to evaluate protective door sensors.
