GENERAL RULES<br />

The following are rules that guide daily living at <strong>Seabrook</strong> West:<br />

• Please do not switch rooms for security reasons. Only water- no food- is allowed in the bedrooms.<br />

• Residents will self-administer medications following completion of the first month, if deemed<br />

appropriate by staff. Medications will be logged on a monthly form, which will be reviewed midmonth<br />

by Night Counselor and turned in to Operations Manager at the end of the month. At<br />

beginning of each new month, a form will be given to residents for the next month.<br />

• All residents must be in the dining room at the assigned meal times. Residents are responsible for<br />

cleaning their tables before leaving. Exceptions will be made with prior authorization by Primary<br />

Counselor.<br />

• Residents, if not employed or volunteering, are to attend and be on time for ALL scheduled in<br />

house and community meetings. The 2-minute rule applies- “Be at least 2 minutes early for all<br />

activities”.<br />

• Residents may not eat during any session or organized activity. Eating is allowed only in the<br />

dining room and breakfast room. Drinking water is permitted. Snacks are permitted in the<br />

recreation room during movies.<br />

• Volume on radios and televisions is to be kept at a reasonable volume.<br />

• Borrowing or lending of money is not permitted.<br />

• Gambling of any kind (including internet) is strictly prohibited.<br />

• The Mansion is open to all residents for meals, visitors, meetings with the staff, quiet room and<br />

group room. Special rules are noted under “Visitation” policy.<br />

• The Buddy System-all new residents will be assigned a “buddy” from the community who will<br />

help them become oriented to the campus and schedule during their first seven days at <strong>Seabrook</strong><br />

West. Residents will not be allowed to go off <strong>Seabrook</strong> property for the first 30 days without the<br />

accompaniment of a staff member or another resident who has been here longer than 30 days.<br />

• Confidentiality provides the basic structure of trust within a community as well as the safety for<br />

residents to do the work necessary for healing. Revealing the presence or issues of residents, even<br />

to other residents, is a breach of confidentiality.<br />

• The gym is for your and your visitors’ use. Please keep it neat and clean. Wipe off equipment<br />

after using with solution. Towels will be provided and must be put into the laundry basket daily.<br />

• Internet times are restricted. Internet usage is shut off at 1:00 a.m. Your internet usage is<br />

monitored and not to be abused.<br />
